AC Hotel Carlton Madrid

First off, the location of the AC Hotel Carlton Madrid by Marriott is definitely excellent, being quite close to Atocha train station. The room itself was decent, just a tad small. Breakfast was quite rich and plentiful. However, compared to similar hotels in China, the overall price is on the higher side, which is especially noticeable in Madrid.

Everyone, please be very careful about this hotel. It's non-cancellable, non-cancellable, non-cancellable. When I booked it, I searched for 'cancellable,' and this hotel was the first one that popped up. So I booked it. It wasn't until three days later that I carefully read it was 'cancellable on the same day.' Later, due to a change in my travel plans, my arrival in Madrid was brought forward by about a week. I tried to change the dates through Ctrip, but it was rejected. I tried to change the guest, also rejected. I even explicitly stated I was willing to pay more, but I was cruelly rejected. I also tried to communicate with the hotel, but they still refused. I even suggested canceling the order and accepting a penalty, just refunding a little bit would be fine, but they still refused. I booked the hotel six months ago, and I tried to change the dates four months ago, so it wasn't a last-minute request. They had plenty of time to resell the room, and the dates I wanted to change to would not have affected them at all. The date I booked was over 3000, and the date I wanted to change to was over 1000, and I repeatedly stated that I didn't need a refund for the difference and was willing to pay a little extra. This hotel and Ctrip have really disappointed me this time. I hope that hotels that are only cancellable on the same day stop appearing when customers search for 'cancellable' options.

This hotel is conveniently located near Atocha station, just a 4-minute walk to the Reina Sofía Museum, and within walking distance to the Prado Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. (These three museums are covered by the 'Paseo del Arte Pass,' which offers great value.) It's an excellent location for anyone who wants to visit museums even with limited time. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable, but the street noise from cars was a bit loud. There's also a small Carrefour Express supermarket nearby, which is very handy.

The room was fairly clean, though quite small. Hotels in Europe have been raising their prices lately, but this one's location right next to the train station was quite convenient, and the facilities were much better than many hotels in the city center.
