Diamonds Thudufushi Maldives Resort & SPA

Our stay at Diamonds Thudufushi was the best vacation we have ever been on and exceeded all of our (high) expectations. GREAT HOUSE REEF: The house reef was easily accessible and right outside of our beach bungalow. After two minutes of swimming, we were surrounded by colorful parrotfish, anemone fish, reef sharks and many many more. FACILITIES AND ROOMS: Our Junior Beach Bungalow was beautiful, comfortable and always clean. We had spacious closets, a big veranda right on the beach and an amazing open air shower with palm tree tops as the view. We have heard goods things about the water villas, but can also highly recommend staying right on the beach with a beautiful sea view! STAFF: Everyone we met were friendly, happy, and eager to answer all our questions about the island and the marine life. The water sports manager (Raul) taught me how to snorkel on the first day, took us around he house reef and even tried to teach us how to free dive (all free of charge). They also offer many excursions, which we happily participated in, and the guides seemed almost as enthusiastic as us about spotting whale sharks, turtles and manta rays. Another fun experience was when we met a turtle while snorkelling around the house reef, and as the marine biologists had not seen it before, we got to name it in their database. They even sent us a certificate of the new turtle name. FOOD: The resort is all-inclusive and the buffet in the main restaurant has delicious food stations for various types of food: pastas, salads, grilled reef fish, fresh juices and eggs in the morning (and more) are cooked fresh in front of you. In addition, they have a special theme every night with special fresh dishes. Our favorite was the Maldivian night where the tables and buffet were moved outside in the island garden. WAITERS: The service was above and beyond. We had our own waiter who spotted us immediately every time we arrived in the restaurant. He always remembered our coffee and drinks preferences, and empty plates were removed almost as soon as they were put down. CHECK-OUT: The room was ready when we arrived, and the check-out was scheduled 10 minutes before our water plane was scheduled to depart (16.10). This is a hotel policy that we have never experienced at other resorts in the Maldives. This was my first trip to the Maldives and I will definitely be back at the same resort again next year. My mom has been to the Maldives 8 times before (at SixSenes, Veligandu and Olhuveli) but the stay at Diamonds Thudufushi has been her favorite trip of them all. OMG!!!! This is heaven on earth. Diamonds Thudufushi was a holiday I will remember forever . From the moment we arrived,we were greeted by the Beautiful Carla and Jaco our island hosts and Ellisia . We were in tears at the sight of this beautiful island.we were treated lije royalty for the duration of our stay.All the staff bent over backwards to make this a holiday of a lifetime.rooms were cleaned to a very high standard ,the beds were so comfy and the softest fluffiest pillows ever . The food was absolutely amazing ,such attention to detail one would think they were in a top class London restaurant. BREAKFAST was to the highest standard always cooked by the smileyM.Supipi. Our waiter Amhet was another gem.He took such great care of us for all meals. If you have never tried a holiday Dakari get Akash to make you one .so very yummy .and again perfection .The young man in charge of the entertainment was another little treasure.everyone from the lovely sand cleaners to our wonderful charming hosts Carla and Jaco.made this one of the best weeks ever .an unforgettable experience. We left as we arrived in floods of tears not wanting to leave this Beautiful Island and the kind caring wonderful people ( everyone) We got to know. Well done everyone on Diamonds Thudufushi. As we arrived on the island we were welcomed by the hotel manager and staff, they had our details to hand and booked us in straight away and took us to the restaurant for lunch and drinks. The view was breathtaking and after such a long journey we felt immediately relaxed. After lunch we were shown to our watervilla. The room was immaculate and has a huge deck with table, sofas and double sunlounger. We got changed and went straight into the water to snorkle. 10m off the deck we encountered a large hawksbill turtle and impressive coral. This set the theme for our holiday, we saw turtles every day and the reef both in the shallows and the drop off are the best we have found in the Maldives. The island is small and although occupancy was high the beach and restaurants were always very quiet. We had access to the over water restaurant which served high quality food from a small team who gave fantastic service. We also visited the buffet restaurant which also gave superb service with more casual dining. I would recommend Diamonds Thudufushi if you are looking for the ultimate Maldivian experience.

Very disappointed! Don't go to this island in March or April! During this period, there are no beaches on more than half of the island. It is very disrespectful of the management of the island to sell accommodation even though they are aware that the guests will be unspoiled! At this time of the year, the resort is sold out and there is no chance of you getting an upgrade to another villa. Choose a different resort in each case. This situation repeats itself on this island every single year and the management is not solving the situation!!!

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Do not stay here they steal your money and don’t help you with anything. STAY AWAY!!!! They do not care about you. They don’t have a cell to reach. They stole my money and refused to give me a refund. I have been trying to contact a supervisor and they haven’t connected me with one. Choose another hotel!!

Magnificent stay, A fabulous site, reef in the immediate vicinity, accommodation, catering, quality of services and activities well above average. Rather a disappointing stay especially after reading such glorious reviews. Nowhere was it mentioned that the whole resort is really geared to the Italian market from the entertainment & activities to the shop & food. I actually speak fluent Italian but even so we felt that we were less of a priority. My husband booked this as a surprise for my 60th birthday, he contacted the resort a week before our arrival to ask if he could arrange something special for me. The response was to leave it to them & they'd arrange a cake & to make sure the staff were aware. Unfortunately nothing materialised despite my husband mentioning it again. He therefore tried to arrange a romantic dinner set up on the beach ( extra cost) but a couple of hours before he received a call to say that they couldn't do it but suggested we did it in our room! We were very disappointed since we had seen an Italian group have this on the night before. We were informed it was due to it having rained in the afternoon however they still managed to do a beach set up for a 'White Party" to meet the management. Talk about rubbing salt into the wound. On another note we were in a water villa with jacuzzi but had no hot water in the bathroom. Again we told them about this & were assured maintenance would come but unfortunately this did not happen. Cold showers were not very pleasant when I was a youngster so definitely not nice at my age! Unfortunately too a guest went missing & drowned which I understand was not the resort's fault but the way it was handled was very relaxed. The guest's companions were left crying & obviously very distraught with not a single member of the management team comforting them , in fact it was another guest who went to sit with them. Safety precautions/ warnings are not very apparent & perhaps should be made more visible & emphasised. On a positive note, the barman, Khalil, was lovely & did look after us, in fact we actively sought him out sine we knew we'd be in good hands. Despite no hot water, the water villa was lovely, bed very comfortable & the terrace was amazing. The standard of food in the Water Villa Restaurant was very good but the menu was the same everyday so after a while became a bit monotonous. A bit of variety would have been nice as well as dessert which the staff seemed reluctant to 'sell'. In the buffet restaurant however there was a good choice of desserts. The Maldives are beautiful & we would love to return but unfortunately not to this particular resort.

Our experience was amazing, all the staff members gave us great service. Shout out to Siman the pastry chef who made the best dairy free sagoo dessert, he really went out his way to cater to me as I cant have dairy. Shaheen was very humorous and his warm presence made our stay enjoyable. Carla was very friendly and welcoming always there to make sure we are okay. Our water villa was fabulous, saeed who did our housekeeping decoration was beautiful. I just hoped there was more food options also more entertainment at night other than that it was really a very memorable stay. We will definitely be coming back soon 😊

We are repeat travellers to the Maldives, having been lucky enough to experience 15 different islands. I chose Thudufushi on the back of having visited its sister island Athuruga some years ago staying in an over water villa and was under the impression that they were virtually identical. I remember the dedicated over water villa restaurant serving the most amazing food every mealtime. Therefore I was mightily disappointed with what was on offer at Thudufushi. Although the food was of good quality, the choice was extremely limited, and after a few days repetitive and frankly boring. We were obliged to visit the buffet (which I have to say is very good quality) for a change of menu. Also, on occasion our chosen drinks were not available, and we ended up going to the main bar. After paying a premium for the privilege of a dedicated restaurant, I felt cheated, and am of the impression that minimal effort and cost cutting is the norm. I did complain and managed to fleetingly pin down the general manager on one occasion who took our room number and offered to meet us to discuss any issues, but never did. The Pros: The water villa decks are spacious and the villas are well spaced out allowing privacy. The house reef is pretty good with some lovely patches of colourful coral. The diving experience was okay, but be aware that the livaboard boats tend to congregate in this area, and so the dive sites can be crowded. Great buffet offerings. Few children. The cons: The beach villas are almost all semi detached and with no vegetation between to offer any privacy. Abysmal menu in the water villa restaurant. Poor wine choices. The only Sauvignon Blanc seemed to be unavailable after our first week. The clientele is mainly Italian (nothing wrong with that but large groups can be quite loud) and the waiters seem to give preferential treatment to them above other guests. There seems to be a daily practice of taking food waste out on a boat under darkness, and dumping it in the ocean. This is definitely NOT a 5 star island, and is, so far, the only island that I can without doubt say that I would never return to.
