I made the reservation, paid the hotel and could not stay because when I arrived they had already placed somebody in my room and they eve did not know who was I. The room. They they had to call all staffs to find out. And still could not find out.
The worst part is that they did not not know my room 120 was occupied and they give me the keys of the room, and I went to the room with my luggage and and when I did open the door, people were sleeping in the room.
Really bad. The. They took almost one hour to see what happen and could not find out the issue nor solve it. Finally the got me another room in another hotel. Around 5km away. Much cheaper and not refunded my money as well. Terrible.

Discovered this adults-only hotel via the internet quite by accident, but what a great accident! Located on the more sheltered Mansa Beach section of Punta del Este, this is the only hotel that is located right on the beach and with fantastic views over the South Atlantic Ocean as well as the city itself. The hotel overall has a modern beach vibe, with neutral tan tones and natural wood accents. Rooms are spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds. The pool area is very cool, with cabanas and beach chairs, as well as direct access to the super wide beach that stretches for miles in both directions. Food was excellent, and a special shout-out to Walter (Wally), the head waiter who made sure every guest felt special and valued. This hotel is a must for anyone heading to Punta del Este!

My husband and I recently spent four nights at the Serena hotel while on our honeymoon in November. We were unfortunately very disappointed with our stay. Based on our experience, the good: - The hotel is in a beautiful location on the beach - Several of the staff members are very friendly and helpful (special thanks to Francisco for helping us with our check-in ordeal) Then, the bad: - Both hotel restaurants were closed for the duration of our stay, with no advance warning or discount offered. - The night we checked in to the hotel, we had to switch rooms three times (first broken air conditioner, second the door to the room would not latch shut, third broken safe that wouldn't stop beeping). We were told that the hotel would extend "a courtesy" to us to compensate for the hour-long ordeal. This courtesy turned out to be 3 Ferrero Rochers. - The rooms themselves are cramped and poorly sound-proofed (no seal around the door), and our mattress was saggy. - Despite what their website says, the Serena is NOT an adults-only hotel (one of the reasons we picked this hotel for our honeymoon). During our stay, we encountered at least half a dozen children, including a fussy baby in the breakfast room and a young boy doing cannonballs in the pool while shouting up to his mother on her balcony. When we checked out, the receptionist asked if our stay was ok and we voiced our frustrations. He attempted to talk to the reception manager for us. They claimed that they could not offer a partial refund because the room was booked through a third party, and instead offered us a late checkout or sandwiches (both irrelevant as we were leaving to catch a bus), or a discount on a future stay (even if we didn't live 9,000 km away, we would not be staying at the Serena again). We asked if they could at least pay for our taxi to the bus station, and were told they "weren't comfortable" with that. Through all of this, the reception manager refused to come out of their office to speak to us, forcing the employee helping us to go back and forth from us to the office relaying messages. There are so many other beautiful hotels in Punta del Este - don't waste your time with the Serena.

The restaurant Al Mar was really fantastic! A beautiful setting. The tables are on a deck over the beach. You dine to the sound of the waves. The food was excellent . The servings were large and I suggest sharing. The octopus tentacle was sublime and so were the scallops. The carpaccio and the salmon tartar very good too. Our friends had the lamb cutlets and the filet mignon with pepper sauce and were very happy with them! We did not make it to the pudding! The service was good, although the drinks we had ordered to accompany the sunset took rather a long time to arrive The best meal we have had in Punta del Este
Response from Property: Thanks for your comments, we are glad you enjoyed Serena Hotel and the restaurant. We are taking note of your comment regarding the delay of the drinks to improve in that aspect.

So my husband wanted to take me to Punta del Este since it was my first time in Uruguay. It was a beautiful hotel, and only one directly on the beach. The staff went above and beyond. The heated indoor pool was great since it was too cold to get in the ocean or get in the outside pool. They recommended great restaurants downtown. I would truly stay there again if I returned

A lovely, low-key setting on a wide sandy beach along Rio de la Plata west of downtown. Rooms are bright and cheery, bar fully stocked, full-on breakfast buffet with hot breakfast items prepared to order. Staff couldn’t be nicer. Be prepared for about a $200 taxi to/from the Montevideo international airport. I suspect bus service might be available, but I did not explore that option.
Response from Property: Dear, thank you very much for taking the time to write about your experience at Serena Hotel. We are glad to know that you had an excellent stay. Regarding the means of transportation from Carrasco airport, there is indeed a bus that is comfortable and more accessible than the remise/taxi option. In high season there are also direct flights to Punta del Este airport.

A hotel on the beach that makes it a kind of resort. Good and basic facilities, nothing more is needed. Breakfasts with an a la carte buffet concept that make it rich and sufficient. Very friendly staff. Perhaps to improve the restaurant menu, which is limited and restrictive, and by insisting, changes were made. Otherwise a fabulous experience. I would return without a doubt.

We spent our 26th wedding anniversary and my birthday in this paradisiacal place. The entire team is always concerned about ensuring the well-being of guests. The only hotel on the sand in Punta. The Mansa restaurant is also wonderful! We already want to go back.

Hotel in good condition, well located and with direct access to the beach. Excellent breakfast, very good quality of food and with an unbeatable visit to the sea. The super attentive staff, all and at all times. I didn't rate it with a 5 because it has some maintenance details, for example the bathroom window that when you open it falls due to lack of a stop, the bathroom sink was clogged (although I admit that they solved it quickly and gave us champagne and chocolates) .

The hotel is beautiful, the employees are friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast is complete, of good quality and delicious, added to the unbeatable location just steps from the sea. Impeccable cleanliness, good shower and fluffy towels. I recommend it without any doubt.

Excellent location, large comfortable and beautiful room, with sea views, it is on the beach. Beach service, good restaurant on the sea. Be careful with the pool with too much chlorine, it turns silver jewelry black. I would miss a gym.

The best thing about the hotel is the comfort of being on the beach without having to cross avenues, without carrying lounge chairs, umbrellas... You have breakfast looking at the sea and from there directly to the lounge chair on the beach or in the pool that is on the beach. You grab a towel from the bar and that's it. The restaurant's food is excellent and so is the attention of the employees. The hotel is impeccable and super clean, although the rooms are very small. It is advisable to go by car, there is parking, but a taxi to the center costs about 450 pesos, which is about 12 USD.

O pôr do sol é maravilhoso. Recomendo o hotel.
