Barcelo Managua

This review is for Jennifer Silva, the lady who cleaned the room for us, who did an amazing job cleaning the room. Very grateful for her job. On the other hand, we are not happy with Lucero, who appeared to be the manager. We had not had a chance to use the pool and asked her if she would allow us to stay in the pool after doing the checkout. She said we had to pay for the consumables, as if we had not stayed at the hotel. This is the 1st time that’s asked from us after staying at a Hilton Honours, as HH members for many years (and not staying at any other hotels while traveling through different countries).

As two women traveling alone we stayed at this hotel for one week, they have everything you need at Barcelo Managua Hotel, a shuttle bus picks & drops you off at the airport, priviate taxi service, free internet, private taxi service...The hotel restaurants are excellent, have 24hr food service which is fantastic. Awsome spa & pool. Barcelo Managua Hotel is located in the best and safest area of Managua, Nicaragua!!! We fell in love with this hotel & recommend it to everyone!!!

I stayed for one night on a business trip and did not really enjoy my stay. The hotel is in a good location with a lot of restaurants in the area. It is an older hotel and the lobby area is not really welcoming. Check in was ok and fast. I had to ask for a replacement key after the card key they gave me did not function after I I put it in my pocket with my phone. The room is ok but it is definitely showing its age. Wifi is free and they have a good set of amenities except the shampoo dispenser in my room was missing. The aircon did not function properly. It started ok with a decent temperature but during the night it may have conked out as it became warmer and warmer during the evening. The following morning , the hot shower suddenly stopped flowing- not good when you have soap in your face. I am glad I stayed only for 1 night.

The only thing to me that stands out about this hotel is the large hot breakfast they offer each morning. Beyond that the hotel is pretty standard. For the price the rooms are a bit small, but the hotel is probably one of the nicest at a hotel in Managua. The rooms are clean and the air conditioning works great. The hotel reception are not very friendly, but the people working in the restaurants and maids were friendly. I think they need to teach the people behind the front desk how to smile every once and a while or at least a decent welcome to the hotel. The hotel is located within a few minutes of a mall. Another somewhat downside is that the noise from the hallway goes right through the door. Also, there is free internet... but the code they give you only lasts 1-2 days. One thing I do not understand is that they offer free shuttle service to and from the airport, but do not offer free shuttle services to places within a mile of the hotel. Instead they have their own private taxi services that charges about double the rate of a normal taxi.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was much nicer than I expected. The man at the front desk, Eddy Vargas, was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, even the shampoo smelled good. There is an outdoor seating area by the pool with a nice view of the city and lake. Oh, and also the warm chocolate chip cookies were yummy. I would stay here again.

The Double Tree Managua is a good choice for business travellers as well as leisure. The hotel is modern and spotless and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Gabriela, the sales executive, as well as to Lourdes and Yorlin, at the restaurant. You made my stay special. Rooms are up to the Double Tree standard with excellent beds! Note that a/c can be loud. The hotel is big and cold and could do with some "coziness". The lobby reminded me of an hospital.
