We visit Turkey every year and have stayed in many hotels over the years, but this was, without question, the worst holiday experience we have ever had. It was the dirtiest, smelliest and most unfriendly hotel we have ever stayed in. We tried to move to another hotel on the day we arrived, but neither the hotel management nor the company we booked through were willing to help. In our experience, the hotel was old, shabby and poorly maintained. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the entire building. The so-called minibar was only stocked on arrival and then left as nothing more than an empty fridge for the rest of our stay. Our bathroom had mould, outdated and worn fixtures, and the mattress was heavily stained. The pillows were also extremely uncomfortable and felt as though they had been stuffed with old socks. The lifts were constantly overcrowded, making it difficult to get around the hotel. The restaurant was one of the worst aspects of our stay. We found the smell to be like dirty laundry mixed with sour milk, which completely put us off eating there. Finding a table at breakfast, lunch or dinner was a daily struggle, and there were always long queues for food. Guests regularly pushed in front of others without any intervention from staff. The cutlery often appeared old and unclean, coffee cups were stained, and the drink stations were outdated and frequently empty. If you wanted a drink for your child, you often had to join another queue, only to be told you were in the wrong one. The hotel also appeared to be severely understaffed. There simply weren’t enough staff to cope with the number of guests, and even something as basic as getting a drink often involved long queues and a lengthy wait. It felt like every bar and service point was overwhelmed for most of the day. We found the staff to be rude and unhelpful, and communication was difficult as very few spoke English well enough to deal with even simple requests. The hotel advertises a children’s Luna Park, but in reality it consisted of little more than an old swing and a small train that had to be pushed by hand to move. It also seemed to be closed most of the time. The unpleasant smell throughout the hotel was constant. The pools looked unclean, the beach was very small and covered in rocks, and the sunbeds rarely appeared to be cleaned or properly arranged. There were never enough sunbeds for the number of guests, so on many days we had no choice but to sit on the grass. Many guests reserved sunbeds by leaving towels on them all day, even when they weren’t using them, and despite this happening daily, the hotel did nothing to enforce its own rules or manage the situation. To make matters worse, we both suffered stomach problems throughout our entire 12-day stay and couldn’t wait to get home. The hotel also advertises an indoor swimming pool, but it was completely unusable. When we went looking for it, we found what appeared to be an abandoned area where the pool had sim
