Pickalbatros Villaggio Aqua Park - Portofino Marsa Alam ★★★★

📍 Marsa Alam, Qesm Marsa Alam

"As someone who has been to multiple resorts with family, I can confidently say that Portofino Villaggio is the resort for all. We travelled as a large family with a total of 30 members with ages ranging from as young as 6 months old to elderly people aged 70+. The resort had multiple locations and activities that suit all. We stayed from Thursday till Saturday and left Sunday evening. The resort is very large and is great for nighttime strolls. A great plus is that the resort has bikes that you can ride round and are available for use from 8am till 8pm. However, I believe it would be beneficial for all if the bikes were available till midnight seeing as there are still activities open till late in the night. The pools: There are a lot of pools with different depths that suit all ages and all levels of swimming experience. The infinity pool (located next to the Mediterranean restaurant) is the biggest pool and has the most activities. We also attended the fruit festival which was near this pool and is definitely recommended for all, the mangoes were delicious! The beach: The beach is very beautiful and sandy and we had a lot of fun snorkelling and seeing the variety of colourful fish. We also went snorkeling at the jetty and I must say it is definitely recommended. The view underwater is much more stunning that above water. There are also life jackets available and life rings in the water for people to hang on to. As someone who has family members that can't swim I really believe everyone should have the chance to see the fish. I would suggest for the resort to build a glass tube that goes underwater, similar in idea to the aquarium area in the zoo. The aqua park: Aqua park was super fun with multiple slides and areas for all ages. Would definitely recommend to try out all slides cause each offers a unique experience. There is also ice cream offered near the aqua with four flavours (chocolate, strawberry, mango, and vanilla). I would suggest going early so that you can get whatever flavour you want before it runs out. The food: The food was great with a huuggeee variety. We tried out all restaurants as well as an a la carte restaurant called Shellfish until we were all super full. The food is always fresh and there is never a moment in time that passes by unless a restaurant or bar is open serving food or snacks. A great plus is that the resort also accommodates everyone by offering early breakfast (5 - 7am) and late dinner (10pm - 12am). It also accommodated our family member who has a gluten allergy. From all the restaurants we tried I'd definitely recommend El Khan, it has very delicious food and isn't as crowded as compared to the other restaurants. The bakery is also delicious and made freshly. I'd recommend eating the fresh Egyptian bread and croissants from the restaurants but if you want delicious desserts then go to the bakery in the lobby that's open from 10am till 7pm. It has fresh desserts that change daily. The rooms"

"This October, my boyfriend and I took a trip to Marsa Alam and looked for a really special and beautiful hotel to stay in. This hotel gave us the relaxation we desperately needed. The room was beautifully furnished and very clean. It was cleaned daily with great attention to detail. We had a beautiful view of the sea from our room. We booked full board and had the pleasure of enjoying delicious food every day. The staff were always attentive and never intrusive. Each of them went to great lengths to make us feel well Of all the excursions available, we chose the desert trip with astronomy. And on this trip, we were very lucky to meet our wonderful guide and geologist Diaa Shawki. He brought the desert and its history to life with his humor, exciting facts, and interesting stories. We learned so much from him. He also treated us to a delicious meal that he cooked himself. The highlight was watching the stars while he explained everything to us in great detail and gave us the opportunity to observe planets through his telescope, demonstrating his extensive knowledge. It was a wonderful trip, and in our eyes, he organized it absolutely brilliantly and with a lot of love. We are very grateful for all his efforts and hope to have him as our guide again and to be able to share in his knowledge. Because he managed to bring history to life."

"Bad hotel. I don't recommend staying there. They checked us in about 20 minutes, even though there was no line. The rooms are spacious, but very dusty and dirty. The floors have probably never been washed. The furniture is worn out. The shower head leaks. The grounds are in disrepair. The food is tasteless."

Pickalbatros Villaggio Aqua Park - Portofino Marsa Alam ★★★★
"We had a truly wonderful stay at Pickalbatros Villaggio Resort – Portofino Marsa Alam and would like to thank everyone who made our holiday so special. From the very beginning, we were impressed by the kindness, friendliness and hospitality of the entire staff. Everyone made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for throughout our stay. A very special thank you to Mohamed Khaled for his kindness and attention, to Ahmed the lifeguard, to the wonderful waiter at the beach, and to the diving guide who accompanied us on our diving experience and helped make it such a memorable part of our holiday. We would also like to thank all the chefs for their hard work and delicious food, the housekeeping and cleaning staff for keeping everything so clean and pleasant, and every single member of the team who works every day to make guests feel comfortable and happy. What we will remember most is not only the beautiful resort, but the people. Their smiles, kindness and warm Egyptian hospitality made our stay unforgettable. Thank you all for giving us such beautiful memories. We returned home very happy and we already know that we would love to come back again. See you next year! ❤️"

"Newly built, very well-maintained hotel. Spacious and comfortable room. Excellent service; the staff was always attentive and helpful. Unfortunately, the coral reef is almost completely bleached, but this is a common problem along this stretch of coast. The buffet was generous and of good quality."

Wadi Sabarah Lodge ★★★
"I stayed at Wadi Sabarah for ten days in June 2025, and it was the most heavenly and peaceful holiday. No kids, no chaos, no „touristy“ vibes. Just the rare luxury of silence, excellent hospitality, slow living and a sustainable environment. Having traveled far and wide, I can say Wadi Sabarah is truly unique and would come back in a heartbeat. I recommend that you look nofurther if you are looking for something like that. This place and its cultured atmosphere is a 12 out of 10. The most important thing: Everything at Wadi Sabarah is made and done with love. Such things are very rare in this world, so the hotel is a quiet kind of miracle. It is obvious that the owner Sami loves this place and tends to it like it was the light of his life. He and his team have put a lot of thought and effort into creating an upscale vibe which is eco-friendly but still lavish, and ultimately reflects the country's rich history, its long-standing legacy of hospitality, and its grace. The staff at Wadi Sabarah is truly exceptional — it is their dedication and care that make this place not just functional, but truly unique. Their hard work might often go unnoticed or taken for granted, but it made all the difference to me in creating a wonderful experience of quiet luxury. F&B manager Nabil goes to great lengths to make sure that all guests have a great experience, moving quietly and discreetly, he knows all names, room numbers and personal preferences in the blink of an eye and, with his great knowledge and expertise, he is the go-to person for all kinds of recommendations and requests. His staff is outstanding, especially Sherif, Mina and Imad were very attentive to all guests. As I was travelling alone, it was important to me that I could enjoy my meals peacefully and quietly, which was respected and supported by placing me in quiet corners, but they also always had time for a quick chat. Said, the baker, kindly let me try to make my own Egyptian bread, which was so funny. Chico, the poolboy, is so helpful and always looks out for all guests. A round of chess with the manager was greatly appreciated. At reception, Hassen greets you warmly and handles every request patiently and efficiently. The friendly housekeeping keeps the rooms spotless and comfortable, making sure everything feels just right. The proud gardeners maintain the grounds beautifully, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. The cleaning crew quietly does their job with love. Truly, the staff's hard work and their love for this place shows in every detail. Shokran to everyone who made me feel at home here. The architecture, construction materials and interior design at Wadi Sabarah have been chosen with great respect to excellence, the environment and reverence for a desert aesthetic. You can see that the place was carefully planned, with a lot of attention to details and allowing for the luxury of wide open spaces which really let me feel at peace and at one with the surroundings.
