Hotel Belle-Vue Vieux-Port

The hotel smells bad, the rooms are very small; they are lairs liars , the checked me with the ac not working mid July . They did not fix it and they pretend they don’t know . We stayed in the mid July without ac . I don’t recommend it .

Excellent location on the sunny side of the old port. Good sized double room and comfortable bed. Lovely view out of the window and good breakfast. Only minor issue was they the safe wasn’t screwed to the wardrobe and was small and lightweight. Once locked with our passports inside anyone could have picked it up and just removed it from the room. The cafe/bar la Caravelle was cute and staff were very friendly.

I stay regularly at this hotel. I used it with a film crew while shooting a programme for UK Channel 5 about the city of Marseille. Its situation is ideal; its bar, La Caravelle, is a renowned address since decades. The bar and hotel teams are very helpful and welcoming. Highly recommended. Five stars.

Fabulous harbour front location. Surrounded by restaurants and tourist gift shops. Our room on the third floor overlooked the harbour with fabulous sweeping views including the Cathedral de la Gard. Room had very comfortable bed, flat screen tv with international English channels. Bathroom with provided toiletries and good water pressure. Reasonable luggage storage and room safe. Special mention of a couple of the guys at reception, unfortunately, didn’t get their names, who were of great assistance in negotiating a difficulty experienced with a restaurant booking, also providing excellent restaurant recommendations. The bar is very, very popular with locals late afternoon- interesting to watch very talented bar staff mixing cocktails. Breakfast was typically continental, croissants, eggs and juice etc - adequate. Communication; I normally like to book hotels directly, in conducting research for our visit I found an anomaly between the prices on hotel website and ***********. I emailed the hotel to seek advice. Email was unanswered. Further, after having booked hotel through *********** - I again emailed hotel seeking advice on transportation from St Charles rail to hotel - again email- unanswered. # note for housekeeping; We had to ask on three separate occasions for toilet paper # Also bathroom door unable to be opened from inside - has been reported. Summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay at Bellevue - comfortable, convenient, clean and safe, all staff encountered, friendly and helpful - this should have been a 5* review. Old hotel with small rooms but great service and good value. You can walk everywhere with ease and the harbor view is nice.
