Ibis Marseille Centre Gare Saint-Charles

This hotel is incredibly close to St. Charles Station, which is super convenient for travelers. There are plenty of shops nearby like Mono’p Daily, PAUL, Starbucks, and Carrefour City. Plus, they offer refreshing iced lemonade in the lobby!

I loved the warm welcome upon arrival and departure, the cleanliness of the room, and the ideal location. I'll definitely be back again. Thanks to the team!

I arrived at 1 AM and it seemed there was a miscommunication with Trip.com, as I was asked to pay on the spot. It took me an hour to contact Trip.com and sort out the issue. Thinking about it, if the payment didn't go through, the hotel should have contacted Trip.com themselves to resolve it, instead of asking a guest who had already paid to fix the problem. That's a real issue.

The hotel's interior was quite clean, but there was a urine smell outside the hotel. It's right next to the station, which is very convenient for getting around. The hotel food was also good.

Not great value for money, but the hotel has a good location. You can see it right from the train station.

I almost didn't stay here after reading so many reviews, but once I checked in, I found it to be pretty good. First off, the location is a huge plus. It's only a 2-minute walk from the train station, which was incredibly convenient as I needed to take frequent trains to Aix these past few days. However, if you're planning to explore Marseille itself, staying closer to the main attractions would be better. This area is a bit far from the beach, and Marseille isn't known for being particularly safe at night. The hotel room isn't very big, and it lacks amenities like a fridge, kettle, coffee/tea bags, or cups. However, there is a bar in the lobby. Otherwise, the cleanliness and service were acceptable. I was pleasantly surprised that they allowed me to check in 3 hours early! On the downside, luggage storage does cost between 6-12 euros.

It was scorching hot, so I booked Ibis specifically for the air conditioning, as that was my only real expectation for the hotel's facilities or service. Upon check-in, I waited nearly 20 minutes in the lobby for the front desk to assign my room. Once in the room, I found the shampoo dispenser empty and a pair of slippers left on the windowsill. The main problem was that the AC wasn't working at all. I initially thought it might just need time to cool down due to the intense heat, or perhaps the curtains weren't drawn, but after leaving for five hours and coming back, the room felt even more stifling. I asked a staff member to check, and they confirmed the AC was faulty. However, they couldn't switch our room because there were no other available rooms that could accommodate us. I spent the entire evening going back and forth with both the Ibis front desk and Trip.com, but to no avail. To make matters worse, our room was right next to the parking lot, so we couldn't even open the window to cool down due to safety concerns. This severely impacted our plans for the rest of our trip. It was absolutely terrible, and they still have the nerve to call themselves a three-star hotel!

It's a shame the sheets were dirty upon arrival (blood stains). There was no fridge in the room, nor any bottled water. The room was also small for a 3-star hotel.
