Toyoko Inn Matsumoto-eki Higashi-guchi Reviews

This Toyoko Inn was really great! After breakfast, the dining area turns into a lounge for guests, which is super convenient. They even have drinks and coffee available, which is a fantastic touch. The room was very clean and the facilities were good. While the breakfast was simple, it was all delicious, standard Japanese fare. After checking out, we were able to relax in the breakfast lounge for a bit longer, which was very nice.

Every time I entered the room, there was a distinct foul odor, likely coming from the toilet. Opening the window to air it out didn't help, and more than once, spiders crawled in from outside... I was going crazy!!

Location is good. You can walk from Matsumoto bus station (150 m) or Matsumoto station (290 m). Quiet and comfortable place. The room size is average Japanese-sized room. Fit for 2 persons. No place left when you open 2 luggage at the same time. Breakfast choices are not that much but taste is okay (rice, bread, grilled fish, sweet rolled egg, fermented veggies, miso soup, tea and coffee) The only bad thing was that a short hair female staff member seemed a bit hesitant to talk to me, maybe because she wasn't sure if I was a foreigner. She avoided eye contact both times—when I was waiting to check-in and when I went to drop off my bags. But to be fair, she was nice enough when we actually spoke for check-in situation

The hotel's location is fantastic – right across from a shopping mall, with a supermarket downstairs, and plenty of small shops nearby. The price is reasonable, and the breakfast is delicious.

The location is really convenient, very close to the bus and train stations. The breakfast is quite generous, with a self-service coffee, tea, and beverage machine. The brewery across the street is worth checking out. The only downside is that the smell of smoke in the hallway was a bit noticeable!

Excellent! Not far from the JR station. The hotel not only has coffee but also apple juice – I love the Toyoko Inn in Matsumoto the most! There are two Toyoko Inns in Matsumoto, and this one is the closest to the JR station. It's also super convenient for going to Kamikochi as the bus stop is right across the street. Plus, there's a large supermarket, a second-hand shop, and an outdoor gear store directly opposite! It's genuinely very convenient! I really like this tranquil little city; it doesn't have the hustle and bustle of Tokyo!

What you will expect of a typical business hotel. One thing to note is the hotel does not allow luggage storage upon check out which is quite unusual. The hotel is close to the JR so the alternative would be to store in a locker at the station.

This hotel is in a fantastic spot, just a few minutes' walk from the East Gate of Matsumoto Station. Best of all, the Matsumoto Bus Terminal is right in front of the area, making it incredibly easy to catch the direct bus to Kamikochi in the morning.

This hotel is super convenient, just a 3-minute walk from JR Matsumoto Station. The rooms are clean, tidy, and quite spacious compared to similar hotels. Plus, the free breakfast is pretty good!

The room is not big or small too much for one person. I think this hotel is comfortable for everyone.

Very convenient location to catch early train to Kamichochi, yet breakfast queue move too slowly.

Perfectly located in front of bus terminal and close to train station. All is fine, but mattresses are a bit hard.

The location is excellent. Right next to the bus terminal and railway station. Don’t mistake this hotel with another one with the same name. They don’t store your luggage though. But the bus station and railway station both have day lockers.

Location was a 4 minute walk from the station, or 15 minutes to Matsumoto Castle which was great! Room was pretty spacious (bathroom was compact but fine) and there was a free breakfast which was very good - not too much choice but tasted really good. Beds were quite hard and they don’t do luggage storage after checkout unlike most other hotels, so had to pay for luggage storage at the station instead. Was good for one night. Great value for the price.
