Ref Matsuyama City Station by Vessel Hotels

Really new and modern, in a great location (literally next to the train station, convenience stores, the shopping / restaurant district and more). Plus, they allow bikes in the rooms - we were bike packing through Japan and it’s super to bring the bike in the room rather than uninstalling all the bike bags and leaving the bikes in the lobby or elsewhere. The rooms are small, but immaculate and efficient - everything you need, nothing you don’t- to be expected in Japan. While this hotel is rated at 4 stars, I think on an international scale, it would be a bit less given the volume of people and that it is slightly ‘lower touch’ (meaning, you bus your own table at the restaurant which felt a bit like a school cafeteria). The food was very good and the staff were amazing, though. It’s a very well run, high volume operation! I would recommend for sure.

The location is good. Next to convenience store and a shopping mall which surprisingly I shopped quite a bit considering that I m in the Matsuyama, not in a big city. Haha. Room is at a good size. You can Drink water from the tap. The hotel has a public bath, I didn’t have much time to try. But by its food traffic, I could tell it’s good. The 2 elevators are a little slow because it’s always people to go to the bath. Everything is good, nth to complain about.

First, the best things about this hotel were its convenient location, polite staff, and excellent breakfast. The most unpleasant part was the lack of hotel parking. It is necessary to park in the nearby parking lot, pay 1,000 Yen for each day, and then drag the suitcases to the hotel because there is no space to stop the car in front of the hotel to load or unload. The bathroom was far from spotless. Although we booked a so-called superior room and asked for a quiet room, noise from the tramway in front of the hotel was audible. Overall, the hotel deserves three stars, not four.

It’s very close to the JR station and bus Station, can store luggage after check out, nice!

Good location next to Matsuyama station, easy access to Okaido, big shopping street, and famous Dogo onsen hot springs by tram. 2nf floor is the front desk/lounge for free drinks and soft ice cream/breakfast restaurant. The public bath is on 3rd floor. Room size is the Japanese standard, more storage space under the bed. Breakfast offers various food, many local cuisine and food, and 6 different kinds of local orange juices from Ehime.
