Salt of Palmar, Mauritius

Close to the sea and the Tek Tek restaurant was great. If you're visiting the east of the island, I highly recommend it.

The hotel is located in an area where there's nothing but beaches and other hotels. Restaurants and island attractions are quite a distance away. The winds pick up in the evenings. Swimming near the hotel is practically impossible due to rocks, especially when the tide goes out in the evening. The hotel itself is designed in an old African style, with a somewhat dull interior and exterior. A 'partial sea view' room actually offers a view of the restaurant's roof. The photos are outdated and don't reflect reality. The rooms have artificial flooring, which contributes to an overall cheap impression. The room decor is uninspiring and dated. The toilet is an add-on with a flimsy door. The shower has no enclosure, so water gets everywhere, which probably contributes to the floor swelling, as seen in the photos. There's no fridge in the room, which makes sense since there are no shops nearby anyway. If you don't have a car, there's really nothing to do here besides sunbathe on the beach. You'd get bored at the hotel after 2-3 days. Breakfasts are good and tasty, with an à la carte menu like in a restaurant. Be careful when checking out, as they might try to charge you a service fee – don't pay it. Overall, the hotel isn't worth the money. It's boring and old.

The room's cleanliness was generally good. We had hot water for showers, and the water pressure was decent. The location was also pretty good, with nice little restaurants nearby and close proximity to the beach. They even have a private beach and decorated our room, preparing a cake for us. Overall, I'd recommend it. Breakfast was also quite good, but lunch and dinner were way too expensive. After booking the room, I realized it would be inconvenient to go to the west side, so I wanted to cancel two nights. I sent over a dozen emails, but they refused. I even suggested canceling just two nights and keeping two, but they still said no. So, be very careful when booking. *********** and Agoda allow free cancellations, but Trip.com isn't good in this regard. However, some overseas hotels on Trip.com allow cancellations after negotiating with the owner. So, I'd suggest booking on other platforms because canceling here is impossible, and Trip.com's customer service is incredibly slow.

My husband and I spent a wonderful few days at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, and so is the beach! The breakfasts and dinners were delicious!
