Hotel de Mecina Fondales

We stayed at the Hotel de Mecina Fondales for one night on our Abenteuerwege / Mac‘s Adventures / S-Cape Travel hiking trip through the villages of the Sierra Nevada. Coming through the door from the dusty outside, Victor‘s hotel is feels like a lush green, beautifully decorated oasis. The room was spacious and Victor himself was incredibly nice and helpful. Since it was Viernes Santo he immediately asked us about dinner and reserved a table at a local restaurant for us. He also advised us about our hiking route for the next day. Thank you, Victor, it’s such a pity we could only stay one night with you!

High up in the Alpujarra mountains, in the tiny village of Mecina Fondales this charmingly unique & family run hotel is beautifully adorned with lovely fresh flowers, pot plants 🪴 & is peppered with exotic Moorish features. Numerous paintings of the Alpujarra region were hung throughout all of which add to the unique feel of the hotel. So so different from the standard chain hotels Out lovely room, with a balcony overlooking the pool &fragrant gardens was immaculately clean , the bathroom was spacious & our beds & pillows really comfortable. It had a very useful fridge too. We would stay here for a whole month every year if we could. This hotel has soul! Many thanks, Caroline A.M. Clarke

Our 4 days hiking around the region of mountain villages known as Las Alpujarras located amongst the southern flanks of the Sierra Nevada was magical. Our stay at the Hotel de Mecina Fondales was pivotal in making our time as terrific as it was. Not only was the room comfortable, the hotel has a swimming pool and a bar, a great way to cool off and relax after a day on the network of trails in between the various mountain towns. The proprietors of the hotel, along with other members of their family, are fantastic hosts and available to answer questions or share their deep knowledge of the region. Morning breakfasts at the hotel were simple and delicious. If you choose to explore this beautiful region of the Sierra Nevada, I highly recommend you stay at Hotel de Mecina Fondales!

On visiting the area we discovered this beautiful hotel as day guests. We were made very welcome. We used the lovely pool, set in very well maintained gardens and had lunch. Service was top class as was the food...so much so we came back again a few days later. When we return to the area later in the year we will be sure to visit again. Many thanks to the warm and friendly staff.

Arrived by mountain bike from Busquistar along the edge of a deep gorge, which emphasised the spectacular location. A large property with an amazing entrance foyer, full of flowers. Rooms were pretty large with small balcony, overlooking what looked like a fine pool. It was late when we arrived or would have tried it out. As would be expected very peaceful so a good nights sleep, and breakfast was pretty good.
