This hotel is a short bus ride from the main train station. The rooms are modern & ours was large. No one & no instructions on how to turn on the lights or operate the roll down shutters or anything else in the room. It was frustrating. There are large patio doors (no patio though) that open with electric roll down shutters. But our room faced busy train tracks & so leaving those doors open meant hearing VERY frequent train traffic late into the night & then starting again in the early morning. It wasn’t pleasant. Another thing to know about this hotel is the A/C is controlled & is central to the ENTIRE hotel and it’s not cool in the rooms🥵. There is NO adjusting it in your room or for your room 🥵. It is just what it is. We were advised to open our patio doors to get more air🤪. That would work if it’s cool outside AND there were not the train traffic! There is no ventilation fan in the bathroom and that just adds humidity to the room with no way to vent it. So this hotel is modern meets we don’t trust you. We would not stay here again & from now on even if the hotel says there is a/c we will have to ask the further question about who controls it & the temp.

When I checked in, the male receptionist said that I had booked the hotel for one person and that I had to pay an additional fifty yuan. I had clearly booked for one person, one adult and one child. I spent a long time looking through the order to show him, which wasted a lot of time. I was already very tired from the bumpy journey. It was not a good experience!

Room is spacious and we were given a room in another building with a private balcony. Even though there is nothing to view from there facing building inside, the cushions and a table arranged there are good for a short stay with a cup of tea/coffee. Location is good. A bit far away from train station by walking, but still manageable. Walking distance to the old town area though. There was also an incident that the front desk was helpful. After checked out and left the hotel, we found we left a camera somewhere in the room. We went back to hotel and we were offered help immediately. If I will stay in this town again, will likely choose this one as first option.

I must say, my recent stay at this establishment was tainted by the presence of an employee who seemed determined to mar an otherwise passable experience. Allow me to recount the unfortunate encounter with this particular member of the hotel staff, whose ineptitude and condescension left much to be desired. My ordeal began with the seemingly standard check-in time of 3pm. However, I was forced to entrust my luggage to their ”luggage room” due to this policy. Upon my return for check-in, I made the grievous error of inquiring about my luggage. The receptionist who had taken over displayed an insufferable attitude, insisting that I retrieve my own bags, as if I had been suddenly promoted to the hotel's porter. To make matters worse, I was informed that the air conditioning throughout the entire hotel was non-operational. This announcement was delivered in a manner befitting a stern warden, devoid of any apology or offer of compensation for this inconvenience. It was only after I mustered the audacity to request compensation that she begrudgingly muttered, ”I can offer you free parking,” as if this paltry gesture should suffice. Regrettably, this 'compensation' left much to be desired. When I inquired about the parking fee, which, unsurprisingly, was exorbitant at 18 CHF, I could barely contain my astonishment. At this juncture, the receptionist, dripping with condescension, remarked, ”Yeah, this is Switzerland here,” insinuating that I, a mere Belgian, should be grateful for their overpriced parking, as if it were some sort of privilege. It is worth noting that it is the guests who fund her livelihood, and a modicum of respect should be obligatory. As if this litany of incompetence wasn't enough, when I discovered that my EU plug was incompatible with Swiss electrical outlets, I had no choice but to return to the reception desk. Once again, the indifferent receptionist displayed a complete lack of interest in my predicament. She dismissively informed me that no adapters were available, and the sole adapter they possessed had already been claimed by another guest. Her apathy and unprofessional demeanor were profoundly disheartening. In conclusion, it is my sincere belief that this receptionist's woeful performance reflects poorly on the hotel's overall reputation. She embodies rudeness and ineptitude to such an extent that it is clear she is profoundly unsuited for a career in hospitality. I implore her employers to reconsider her place within the industry; perhaps a career outside of customer interaction, such as working in a factory, would better suit her temperament and capabilities. On a somewhat brighter note, I feel compelled to acknowledge that the other five members of the hotel staff I encountered were, without exception, lovely, warm, and highly professional individuals. It is a tremendous shame that this particular receptionist stood in stark contrast to her colleagues, as she was the sole staff member who appeared to be disinterest

I was in Bern Youth Hostel for two nights and I have to say that it is a super address for a short stay in Bern. The booking and payment in advance was completely unproblematic. The staff was super friendly, took time to explain things and you could even pray nicely. The rooms are spacious, clean and great bonus: there is one box for everyone that you can close with the room card. Breakfast is inclusive and it is more than rich: coffee, musli, bread, cheese, fruit as much as you want. With the expensive prices in Bern, this is an absolute enjoyment to start in the day. You get the price including the Bern Card 2. Class with which you can use all public transportation (including the belt track). I have only two small things to defect: bathroom and toilet were built in the staircase and very narrow. And the mattresses were absolutely through. In addition to these small things, I can only recommend a visit because of the location. The hostel is located directly in the city centre and still is pleasant and quiet right next to the Aare.

PROS - Modern clean rooms with comfortable beds and reading lights. - Fast and easy route to the centre via the bus (free to guests!) - Black out blinds - Two bed apartment was very spacious - Laundry facilities (washer and dryer, 2 francs each) were really helpful, and clearly signposted - Parking including reasonably fast electric car charging - Concierge was available, helpful and very friendly. CONS - The air con was very slow even when turned up to the highest setting, and rooms were hot. Windows don’t open. - The breakfast was abysmal value. No fruit selection (just the usual bulk-bought fruit salad; it doesn’t cost much to put some apples and seasonal fruit in a bowl to choose from!). The scrambled eggs were rated inedible by the whole family. No baguette or whole loaves to slice, just large individual rolls and some white sliced processed bread.

Enthusiasm, the room is also good, suitable for self-driving, a little distance from the city center, good value for money, convenient around, supermarket hotels, will choose here next time

If your not used to off brand hotels you will not enjoy this hotel. It lacks most all comforts a business traveler has come to enjoy . First off the room size is so small you have to go outside to change your mind. The showers are ridiculously appointed with the shower head in the center of the tub not at the ends. This makes no sense and as a taller person. It's not very comfortable. Got to Shave? Better do your hair first or you risk electrocution. The sink fill to the very top with water and will not drain for at least an hour. If you happen to use the hair dryer and it falls into full sink, look out... Need laundry service ? Better plan for a day trip to some magical laundry mat . This is a huge inconvenience personally . Oh speaking of laundry . Took 4 days of asking for an iron and ironing board. Really how is this not in every room. Hungry ? Forget about it. Other than a subpar breakfast buffet which is like ground hogs day that's all you get. They have a full service restaurant buy serve no food. Guess you can order some McDonald's for 35 CHF. That's for 1 meal. Want to relax and watch TV? Well your laptop probably has a bigger screen. As I travel to Biel 8 to 10 times a year I will not be staying here any longer. I may not even complete my current reservation. Very disappointed. So either I have super high expectations or all these other reviewers have very low standards. Cheers.

Gloomy environment. Hotel too sanitized, streamlined giving the impression of being in a clinic. Without personality. Spacious room, large television and good bedding. Difficult to put on makeup because the mirror is too far away. No sauna, any breakfast with chemical orange juice, no cottage cheese, bircher and poorly cooked artificial eggs. Bar integrated into the restaurant and breakfast unwelcoming. Would have benefited from the advice of a specialist. Long reception formalities, untrained staff. I spent my second night at the Mercure, finding a warm environment and welcome, a sauna, a top night bar and a breakfast worthy of the name. There is no photo.

The hotel is comfortable. Well situated. With a parking. And the staff welcoming and smiling. We liked that. Out mixed feeling comes from the noise level. Not from outside. Not from other rooms, but from inside. The AC system is very noisy and we did not manage to master it. Our unit was pushing air at mac level all the time. Even if we would turn it off it would go back to full speed after 20 minutes. If we remove our door card, it would go to full speed immediately. At 2am we ended up removing the room fuses to cut all electricity in the room to sleep. I dont know if this is a defect or by design, but this was the first time I was faced with an AC systems with its own initiative :-). I would like to have control on the room AC and cut it if I need to. Here I had very little control even on the temperature setting.
