Mercure Melbourne City Centre

This is a branded hotel, but upon check-in, I was informed that sheets would only be changed every three days, and towel changes were acceptable for environmental reasons – no problem there! However, what I never expected was that trash collection wouldn't be provided either. Apparently, they only arrange it on the fourth day after a full three-night stay, meaning all trash accumulated in the room for the first three days. The shower space was also quite cramped. My overall experience plummeted. Additionally, one of the hotel's two elevators was out for maintenance, leaving just one elevator to serve the lobby all the way up to the 12th floor. You can imagine the wait times for that...

The location is super convenient! Just around the corner from the main street with tons of great food and drinks. Chinatown is right across the street, and there's a tram stop next door that can take you anywhere.

The hotel's location is super convenient, right in the CBD and very close to Chinatown. Downstairs, there's TamJai, Gong Cha, and HeyTea. However, when we checked in, we found the sink was broken – the water wouldn't drain, possibly blocked by food scraps. We informed the staff downstairs, and they promptly moved us to a different room. We asked for two bottles of water, and they said they'd get them for us, but then nothing happened. I suspect water isn't complimentary, but they didn't clarify. While there was no water provided, there were two cartons of milk. Overall, the hotel was larger than expected, and the hygiene was decent. The main draw is definitely the convenient location.
