La Fabrique à Poupées - Chambres et Appartements de Charme au Coeur de Menton

Disappointed,the bedroom and the bathroom were fine,we were supposed to have a view of the sea,sadly it was obscured by many buildings,we overlooked a rather neglected garden with nowhere to sit. The worst point was that no breakfast was served,we had a coffee machine in the bedroom which did not work well,the pods to use with it were pretty tasteless. I felt like being in a prison,the outside gate is always locked,the front door of the house is always locked,I ask for two sets of keys,so that my husband and myself could go out at different times,but,it was refused. We were not told that the railway line was behind the house,as well as a busy street,it was pretty noisy.

I think the other reviewers were misleading. There was no charm, nobody on site and no breakfast. My room over looked the car park and train tracks, which I heard all night long. Bed was comfortable and bathroom huge but communication from the hosts was brusque and admonishing.

We highly recommend La Fabrique à Poupées in Menton. My husband and I stayed in La Chambre de Rosy, which is a nice size for a couple and has a huge bathroom and a balcony/terrace big enough for sunbathing and eating. Our two teenage children were in a smaller room La Citronnee (you can have a king or two single beds). The old mansion itself is super charming, and we also felt safe and at home as the main entrance is always locked as well as the gate outside. Great location for exploring Menton and the area (a short walk to the train station), many restaurants and cafes on the doorstep. Although there is no concierge service, so the hotel is not permanently manned, the proprietors were always available on the phone and were very helpful. Merci beaucoup!
