Mercure Box Hill Burford Bridge Hotel

Mole Valley District
Attended here 24/9 for a family wedding. After some initial planning issues due to multiple staff changes the wedding event ran very smoothly. The planner, Charlotte and the M/C, Chris were excellent and could not have done more to keep the whole event on track. The wedding took place in the Tithe Barn which transformed from official venue to dining room to dance floor seamlessly. The transition was helped by the perfect weather which meant guests could linger in the spacious gardens whilst the staff did their thing. Food was well prepared and even the minor issue of incorrect dishes to specific individuals was quickly rectified. Waiting staff were very extremely pleasant and affable whilst also being efficient. Buffet style breakfast the following morning with a good selection of hot or cold foods to select from. Lower levels of this building have benefitted from being totally refurbished following some severe flooding and this gives the hotel a really sleek and modern initial appearance. However, once you climb the stairs to the bedrooms all that changes. Whilst there was nothing specific that meant I had to complain the upper levels are really tired. The décor is dated and although clean could really do with updating. The windows are single glazed, timber framed so must ship heat to the outside world by the bucket load. The hot water in the sink took an eternity to heat and even then was only mildly warm. We, and other guests in our party, had multiple failures of the room key cards which meant having to trek all the way back down to reception to get the issue sorted. Yes, these are very first world issues but this is not a cheap hotel, it's run by a major international group and should be better. My advice, by all means book for a meeting, party, wedding or similar function but don't book over night rooms. It really was like visiting two separate venues on the one site.

Trumbles Gatwick B&B

Gatwick Airport Area Mole Valley District
Car parking: Our car was charged for us and safely stored while we were away on holiday. The keys all kept securely and then the car was all ready for us to use when David brought us back from Gatwick. Charge rate and parking fee is very reasonable but we felt happier leaving it at Trumbles while we were away. Room: Spotless with generous tea and coffee facilities provided, even bottled water and biscuits- a lovely touch! Bed was so comfortable we had warm and restful nights sleep on the two nights before and after our holiday. Bathroom facility spotless and provides everything for showers and washing. Room 3 is sheer luxury, the bathroom is spacious and beautiful. Breakfast: Help yourself cereal, toast, tea and coffee. There is a fridge stocked with milk, fruit juices, yogurts and fresh fruit salad. Julia's cooked breakfasts are just perfect. Fresh cooked mushrooms and tomatoes (not tinned!) Then 2 thick slices of bacon, sausage, baked beans and an egg either scrambled, fried or poached as requested . Then toast to follow and plenty of tea or coffee. Really wonderful. Hosts: David and Julia make a marvellous team together and really are the perfect Hosts! They have thought of everything to cater for your stay with them. We are so grateful to them both for taking away all the stresses we faced when our original flight was cancelled and we had to re-arrange our booking. They have a 'can do' attitude and made our holiday better for this! Thank you so much David and Julia, you deserve 5 stars and more!

Travelodge Leatherhead

The team here are so lovely and friendly! I was only staying for one night in Leatherhead for work and they really made so much effort to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I had a couple of presentations in the evening that I admitted to Joanna on reception I was quite nervous about and she wished me the best of luck and even checked in on how they went the next morning when I went down for breakfast. Her colleague Petia was also lovely and super helpful. I think it’s these small interactions that can make all the difference and I was impressed.
Wotton House

Wooton House delivered on peace, tranquility and outdoor space but perhaps owing to getting up to speed with operations post lockdown, it wasn't as organised as I'd like. I booked via Trips. Com and prepaid on the platform but due to a clerical error they changed the full amount plus incidentals on the day of check out. The pre-authorisation on the card at check in was per standard practicebut it made no sense to me why the full hotel cost was held. I queried it but was informed this was the standard procedure. I am sure it will be resolved soon as I have informed the hotel but it would be great to see a much slicker guest experience next time.

Hartsfield Manor

The hotel is located in the countryside and belongs to the manor hotel. The garden has large lawns and the air is first-rate. It is very suitable for vacationing here. You can eat steak for dinner. It tastes delicious. In short, it is recommended.
