Mailagama Cinnamon Residence

Beautiful hotel off the beaten track. About 20mins drive from Kataragama and 1 hour to the entrance to Yala National Park. Rooms were clean and tidy. Had a delicious cinnamon tea on arrival and a tour of the spice garden by the fabulous Inbaraj. He was very knowledgeable on all the plants and the cinnamon plantation. The dinner was delicious too. They arranged a fabulous safari and provided a delicious breakfast and lunch to take with us, to have in the jeep.

Absolutely delightful place to stay. Lovely staff, great location, food superb and great value. Busy enough that you don’t feel watched, quiet enough that you can enjoy the birdlife and views.

Warm friendly welcome with a delicious cup of cinnamon tea. The room was basic but clean, no in room safe but there are multi country plug sockets and kettle for tea/coffee. Dinner was slightly disappointing food served cold and a little bland, perhaps in an effort to reduce the spice level for Western palette the chef had gone too far. Overall this accommodation provides good value in a lovely country setting.

Visit was with my wife and my 6y old kid. It’s close to katharagama kiriwehara and the kovila. and it’s in the center between katharagama dewalaya and wedasitikanda. So either way is the best spot for both location visitors. Room is specious,super clean & cozy. noticed that the management concentrated even for small necessary details should include. We had Our dinner and Breakfast at an outstanding location, it was very simple and delicious. hats off to the chef and the staff. The Manager Inbaraj and the Staff are very friendly and kind. They have a beautifully maintained paddies and eco garden near the premises maintained under Mr Das expertise hands. Dear Mr Das and Mrs Indira thank you for having us it was one of the loveliest day we spent wish we had more time. Wish you all the very best and good luck.❤️

The owners and staff went out of their way to ensure the stay was as comfortable as possible. Great location with real homely atmosphere.

The highlight of our stay was definitely the staff and the food. Special call out for the manager Sanjeev, who really went out of his way to make sure we’d have a great time. Beautiful rooms (though a bit noisy), very nice bedding, to be honest just beautiful all around. The food at breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka, and their curry … outstanding. So so so good, I went for it again the next day. I’d recommend the hotel without hesitation

We had a wonderful stay. We particularly loved the home cooked meals & beautiful landscapes. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They helped book our safari and packed us a breakfast to take with us for the day. I would definitely stay here again!

The MCR stands out in May ways. Not the least is its idyllic location with magnificent views of paddy fields and wadahitskanda. The restaurant serves wholesome meals made with local produce and from their own gardens. It’s a representation of traditional village cooking,. The restaurant is designed in such a way that it gives the impression of having the traditional farmers meal ‘the Abula” right on the field “Kamatha” As hotels go it gives an opportunity experience traditional village fare and the ambiance of a farmhouse with all the modern comforts. The service is professional courteous and friendly. It’s a well Managed property with very good comms to prospective guests! The staff give good guidance on local Attractions and arrange excursions It’s a great experience and worth way more than what’s charged!
