Visited Castello di Gargonza with our stay being around 11 days. There were 19 of us on a watercolor workshop. The castle was a perfect spot for all of us. The rooms were different throughout the grounds. Our accommodations in a larger house were comfortable especially the mattresses! We had a nice bathroom with a shower. The grounds have some sweet gardens around the grounds. We took advantage of the swimming pool as well. Restaurant was exceptional. The best pasta I have ever had. They make their own I believe. The Count was so welcoming! All the staff made us feel at home. I recommend this to people who like a different experience beyond a hotel or a condo. It is within driving distance to so many of the key hill towns which we painted. This spot it a gem! No wonder people want to be married there!

The room we stayed that did not have A/C, in August. We booked through *******, which prior to today Aug 29, 2023 had A/C as an amenity. ******* has since changed the amenities to a portable fan. Pool was awesome. Beds were horrible. Room was super hot. Very remote location. This is a beautiful old remote village with a castle, and total rustic (like a cabin) rooms. Would stay here again, but not in the summer time.

Property is stunning. Small medieval village with an awesome pool in the hills of Tuscany. As for the rooms, you are camping in a medieval village. ******* claims A/C, but we did not have. the rooms that have A/C are only portable units. A little tough when it is a hot August in Tuscany. The beds are horrible. Again you are camping in a medieval village. Location is very remote from other Tuscany towns. That being said, it is a beautiful place to camp in a medieval village.

I would have given 10 plus if I could, but I am giving it 4, as the woman who checked us in, told us that for the kind of booking we would have to stay in a room which faces the street, dark and tiny, the first impression as we entered it was like entering a coffin. I was just amazed that, first they had such room and they expected anyone to stay in it. I booked in *******, fully paid for 3 nights in August. And in anywhere there was a picture of the room. I am writing to *******, that their post is quite misleading. Then, she told us that she can show us another one, on top floor with a seating area. I don't know if this happens with people who book with *******, but it was a very unpleasant check in experience. It was obvious that they were not fully booked, so what was the point? I am still very puzzled. That apart, we spent beautiful 3 nights, the breakfast every morning was a treat with all the bread, cakes and pastries home made. Lucia and Veronica were just amazing. The grounds beautifully maintained, The quietness and the slow paced were such a treat after the week in Rome. We did not have time to visit the restaurant or walk the trails, but definitely a place to go back. The next time I will check about the accommodation. I would say check if they will have event or wedding, because then, it could be a hassle as one needs to compete the space with the group.

It was very cold. Heater was working but still too cold. I told them, then manger brought electric stove, and we use it all the night. But still cold. In addition, Wi-Fi was not available (too weak), neither out side of cellar reach.

Reception was very friendly, even offer to take us to our room (sort of complicated in the castle). Room was very clean and comfortable, however WiFi single was inconsistent in different spot. Dinner manual was good (consider the location), breakfast had excellent choices and service.

this was my third stay at Gargonza and I brought my sister-in-law who is a connoisseur of Tuscany and kept me constantly on the move for two weeks. We stayed in Pietrino (my favorite, but I will have to try other houses one day!) The castello never disappoints and it worked its magic again causing even my sister-in-law to slow down and smell the roses (blooming just outside Pietrino even in November). We hiked the trails, had lovely meals in the restaurant, those amazing breakfasts, and let Gargonza work its magic. It was a holiday weekend and the place was full, but you didn't feel it. We loved how the children could run and play safely in this fairy tale setting -- lots of space and places to hide and seek. We had lots of plans to drive to Siena or to Pienza, but we had been to those places before and, well, why leave Gargonza? So happy to see the tower is nearing complete restoration and I hope one day to be able to climb to the top. We'll be back!

If ever there is a place I would go back in Tuscany, this would be. Out of way enough to have absolute silence and close enough to enjoy the whole region for day trips. The breakfast bread and cake are made in home by Lucia and Veronica. 2 outstanding ladies. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who can enjoy few days in between and have car. For weddings would be a dream.

We (husband small children) have been here several times 25-30 years ago. We loved it and now (two older couples) we love it even more. The manage to update everything in a perfect way while keeping the ambiance of the borgo. The people are so very nice, it is so quiet, the breakfast is lovely and dinner is great, the bar has very special cocktails, the house we had this time (they are all special and different) was just perfect with the chimney, the swimming pool, the gardens: what a pity to leave! Thank you! Grazie di tutto e spero di ritornare presto!
