Wow! We feel like we hit the jackpot with La Casa de la Montana! We found this place when another hotel inadvertently cancelled our reservation and sent us here instead. We were warmly greeted by Sebastian who speaks impeccable English. When he showed us our room (Rm 8), we were blown away. It is a beautiful room with a gorgeous and comfortable king size bed, nice linens, rocking chairs and the shower of our dreams with a huge plate glass window overlooking the jungle. (It’s completely private so no worries about anyone seeing you in the buff. Only the monkeys and birds will have to deal with trying to unsee us in the shower.) We have our own private balcony, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. We are impressed by the included breakfast that Sebastian’s parents prepare in their uber-clean and orderly kitchen space. We are excited to finally have good eggs, fresh juice and fruits, hot coffee and more. Note: When you first drive up to this hotel, the entrance side does not impress. Please know that what you see is not what you get as this is the cleanest, most updated, friendliest hotel we have experienced in Costa Rica!

Just a great place to stay. Leslie and his family made us feel very welcome. The cabin was beautifully appointed with everything needed for a short stay. It was particularly lovely in the evenings with the lights. We saw agouti, white faced capuchins, toucans and a variety of birds and butterflies. It was easy to walk to local restaurants and to the nearby town. All in all a very pleasant stay.

The owner of the casa immediately organized several tours for us to the surrounding nature parks. He also provided us with a guide. With Samuel, the guide, we had two great tours in Santa Elena and in Curi Cancha. In the garden of the hotel we could observe wildlife very closely including a family of armadillos with babies. Perfect place to stay!

All i can say is the hotel and grounds are amazing! while we was staying we saw so much wild life from monkeys, birds ,agutis. The owners wers fantastic too they offer a traditional or american style breakfast. I had the traditional every day as it was amazing. They also recommend some trips to do. And will help get a shuttle or taxis to places you want to visit. The room was spacious with a balcony that makes you feel like your in the forset. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful. I would recommend this place to my freinds and family if they travel to Monteverde.

Celebrating our 40th anniversary, booked the “Honeymoon Suite”. Clean room, cute private balcony. Great breakfast included (choice of traditional or American). Help with Tour recommendations and bookings if requested. Bottle of wine and snack welcome basket was appreciated. Coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave in room. Loved that they had kitchen supplies available from reception area to use. Daily linen change. Wildlife viewing right here on the property. Extremely friendly family run hotel.

The situation of the hotel is excellent, outside the town of Monteverde with great views. Rooms are set around the grounds and are basic and in need of some refurbishment. The bathroom fittings were chipped, no fan or A/C but plenty of hot water. One hairdryer was available from reception. Despite being busy there were very few people in the restaurant - 9 out of 11 of us had food poisoning, presumably from food handling as we all had different meals! Staff at the breakfast we went to were surly and brought out a huge amount of food which was wasted as we had all been ill & we were not given the option to order!
