It was unusually hot when we visited so the room was really unpleasant. We were able to get a fan for the second night which helped a lot. We were in a main floor room that looked at the parking lot so had to keep our curtains closed otherwise we were on full display. As a result, the room felt dark. Due to the normally damp area, there is a mildew/mold smell about and in the linens. Even though it was hot, things didn't dry anyway. The grounds are nice with beautiful flowers. We saw an agouti out back, too. Lots of restaurants in the area. We cabbed back from town as it's all uphill. There is a friendly orange cat who came by our room to hang out, which we really enjoyed!

Wow! This place is adorable! Flowers and birds everywhere. Miguel, Luis and Jose are so friendly and helpful. We really felt like family as soon as we met them. The breakfast is great and it was fun to watch the birds, even toucanets at the feeders. You can walk to stores and many restaurants, even a couple of nice parks. We’ll be back.

The hotel looks great from the outside and the grounds are nice. Unfortunately, we were put in the room right outside of reception overlooking the carpark. This meant we had to have our curtains shut at all times to prevent everyone going to reception from looking in at us. The room was dated and the bathroom definitely needed modernising. The staff were lovely and very helpful and the hotel had lovely cafes, shops and restaurants within walking distance. We did walk into town a couple of times, but due to the towns topography, the walk into town was a nice downhill stroll, whilst the walk back was a bit of a hike! Saying that, one time, due to the rain, we got a taxi back at a very reasonable price.

The host Miguel is the nicest guy you can meet. He will do everything he can to make you feel at home and comfortable. We were there with a large group and he worked with us so we had a place to play cards in the afternoon and was entertaining as well. Rooms and the whole place was welcoming and comfortable. Thank you.

Stayed here as part of a guided trip around Costa Rica 🇨🇷 with Intrepid travel. It's simple but clean. Yes, nothing dries out including towels and the rooms are musty....its inevitable, its the frigging rainforest everyone ! Go figure! We really enjoyed our stay, the owners and staff were extremely hospitable. Ocation wise It's a good 20 minute walk into Monteverde town and situated atop a steep hill. There is a bakery and cafe nearby.

The room is large and that’s about the one good thing about it. The area is VERY WET AND HUMID so the room smells like mold. There probably is an issue with termites as I kept finding wooden-like material on my pillow. There’s a flat screen tv in the room, a small fridge and what seems like a vent but it’d be more useful to actually have somewhere to hang clothes. There’s no daily cleaning service and towels are forever wet as they don’t dry because of the humidity. We didn’t find the room to be particularly clean when we arrived. Positive notes: a friendly cat on the premises and nice staff. No breakfast is served. The hotel is out of the center and a bit of a walk (up and down a steep hill).

The lodge itself is beautiful with gorgeous flowers and vines growing up its side where hummingbirds and toucanets sometimes visit. The property is simple, not much for common areas or pools, but that's fine if you're in the area for the local sites more than hanging out at the lodge. Our room was very spacious but dark (good for sleeping though). We had a small water leak but the staff was very responsive about it. The lodge is at the top of a steep hill so keep that in mind when deciding whether to walk back from town or take a cab. There are restaurants, a bakery, and a convenience store also at the top of the hill so you don't always need to worry about it.

Room had a musty smell. Couldn't figure out the source. Maybe someone urinated on the mattress or we were close to sewage. Room to the door was open when the front desk person showed it to us so I'm sure they knew it smelled but probably didn't have a choice. So maybe other people had clean rooms and their experiences were valid. Ours were not and our experience is also valid. So just adding this data point for you to make your choice.
