Rancho Makena

We were traveling with another couple and we given a cabin. It was very nice to have the full space to ourselves. We were placed in this location as part of a tour with Greenworld Tours, it was not chosen by us and had we been in control of this, we’d likely not have booked here. The owners, Carlos and Rosanna were very kind hosts and we all enjoyed meeting them but Monteverde was cold and wet and windy beyond our imagination. We had absolutely no hot water to shower with and asked that it be looked at. We were told it was and it was good to go. It was not and never was. We realized we were visiting a rain forest but hadn’t expected that we wouldn’t have been able to warm up in a shower and a dry towel. All towels were damp and cold. Sleeping at night was freezing. It felt very much like we’d gone to a summer camp rather than a Costa Rican resort. A hot tub would have been an amazing option. There was no wifi available other than at the main cabin and it was spotty at best. We were there 3 days/2 nights and we all agreed we were more than ready to leave. We were invited to a bbq by the hosts and upon leaving, were charged per person for the meal. We likely would have gone anyway, but a heads up to the added charge woukd have been nice.
