Having stayed here before and eating thought we would eat here tonight, unfortunately from ordering first drink ,half a lager and pint and been charged 12.50 when questioned sorry six pounds then ordering food over charged couple quid ,then when been presented food told coutelry over there ie get it yourself, asked for sauce and vinegar told don't have it in this area all in restaurant, as we were in bar area blond waitress who was very rude to my wife . needless to say will not be back.

A lovely pub, which I've visited on several occasions. Unfortunately, they saw fit to to appoint Civil Enforcement (CE) to manage their car-park, unbeknownst to me. So when I visited recently, I parked as usual and went in for a non-alcoholic drink. Lo and behold, two weeks later, I received a parking ticket for £100, reduced to £60 if I paid within 14 days, for not registering my number when I went into the pub. Nobody in the pub informed me of the change and that I needed to register. I appealed to CE, providing evidence of my purchase and confirming that I had parked legitimately, but they rejected the appeal. It was my responsibility to read the signage informing me of my responsibility. They did say that they would reduce the fine to £20 if I paid within 14 days. Needless to say, I won't be going there again.

Three adults and three dogs looking for a late lunch. We had been refused at another establishment because of the dogs. We received a lovely warm welcome at the Wellwood Arms. The food was excellent the dogs were given water and around it was a lovely visit.

We stayed at the Wellwood last night. Room was absolutely beautiful, very well presented and spotless. Lots of local information and fast free WiFi. Bed was super comfy and the room was dark. A tad noisy until the pub shut but that is to be expected and it wasn't dreadful. Very much cheaper than other is town which did not provide breakfast. We had dinner which was wonderful in itself. Slightly disappointed that when we asked to order dessert (at 8.20pm) the kitchen was closed and the kitchen staff had gone home! Had we been told earlier, we would have ordered dessert at the beginning of the meal. We weren't told that this may be the case when we were ordering- my son even asked if we should order dessert at the beginning. Disappointing. We joined in the pub quiz (we were awful) and we were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. We had a wonderful time and would very much recommend.

Visited here as we popped in for our Sunday lunch when we out on a day trip. Food was lovely and could not faulted with an alright price. But 6 weeks later we received a letter through the post for a parking ticket for parking in the pub carpark for £100. Apparently we should have entered our registration into a machine at the pub and the staff should have advised us of this but failed to do so. Did not see any signs up advising to do this and feel totally robbed of our money. Phoned the pub and they had a "tough" sort of attitude towards us. Being pensioners, felt threatened by the civil action letter and paid straight away but speaking to my son, we could have contested it but felt scared to do so. Just thought I'd bring this to peoples notice as a nice meal out could turn out to be very expensive. Will not be back.

Very rude & unprofessional. Waited several minutes to ask for a table to accommodate dogs & ourselves Finally got a ladies attention & asked for a table,10 mins later she came back & said sorry we can't accommodate a table for 5,so I asked if we could split& have a couple of tables??? Eventually we were seated with 2 tables. Husband went bar to get drinks while rest of party viewed menu. 2 members went & ordered their food with a chef pacing up & down chuntering to rest of the staff. I then went to order ours which the barman took our order, told me how much rang in the till to then say sorry carvery only. Obviously this was a last minute decision which I believe come from the unprofessional chefs. So we asked for our money back for the meals which the other table had ordered, luckily they did. Why didn't they say it was carvery only as we wouldn't have even ordered a drink. Also this pub should be serving meals til 7pm & it was only 4pm god knows how the chefs would cope. Can't believe how staff get away with rudeness & so unprofessional, maybe he needs career change. Disgusting....

Went for a meal at the wellwood arms with family who came up to amble for a visit , I thought that the wellwood would be a fantastic place to take them as I have been many times and have never had a fault with anything at all . Once again they done did an amazing job with the food and all the staff were lovely, I myself had the fish and chips and they don't shy on portion sizes or great taste !!!! My niece had the smoked salmon and said it was absolutely beautiful , the vegetables it came with were flavourful and not over or undercooked and the salmon was perfect with a lovely crisp skin . My 2 brothers both had burgers and again were extremely happy with them we will all definitely be back upon there next visit .
