I recently had the opportunity to stay at Taj Lands End, and I must admit that my experience was a mixed bag, primarily influenced by a few operational hiccups that stood out during my visit.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by heavy weather, which set a somewhat chaotic tone for the beginning of our stay. I requested the valet service to collect our luggage, but to my dismay, my bag was missing even after I provided a detailed description. This was quite frustrating, especially given the lack of urgency in resolving the matter.
The check-in process was incredibly slow, and unfortunately, not much consideration was given to my family during this time. With an infant in tow, waiting became a test of patience. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and the lack of priority for families traveling with young children was glaring.
On a more positive note, our sea-view room was lovely, and the view certainly made up for some of the earlier frustrations. However, room service did not meet my expectations. Each request took longer than anticipated, and there was an underlying pressure for tipping that left a sour taste. Even during checkout, I felt a patronising tone from some staff members who seemed to be awkwardly pushing for gratuities.
Breakfast was another point of contention. On our first day, we were redirected to the ballroom, which was manageable. However, on the second day, when we were told we could order from our table, it became a frustrating ordeal to receive even a simple plain omelette. After multiple reminders and an eventual escalation of my concerns to the floor manager, I finally received my order. It wasn't just the delay that bothered me; it was the overall lack of attentiveness and service that should have been seamless in a hotel of this caliber.
Lastly, I encountered an issue with the toilet door in our room (#1810) that didn’t lock properly, which added to the inconveniences during our stay.
In summary, while Taj Lands End has the potential to provide a luxurious experience, my recent visit was marred by service shortcomings and logistical issues. I hope these areas can be improved for future guests, as the property itself has much to offer in terms of ambiance and views.
