Amazing

Wow! Amazing hotel, difficult to get to on foot but actually close to the nakasendo trail. The rooms are authentic traditional Japanese, fantastic buffet, incredible onsen, we highly recommend this if you are hiking the nakasendo trail.

Great

We only stayed at Hotel Kisoji for one night, for hiking between Magome and Tsumago on the Nakasendo trail. The Japanese-style room was very spacious and clean. My husband enjoyed the onsen after the hike. We also enjoyed the buffet dinner and breakfast, both offering a very good spread of tasty food. Location-wise, we had to take a taxi from Tsumago to the hotel as the bus service is not very regular and the road to the hotel is really not so safe for pedestrians, not to mention the incline uphill. We also took a taxi to the Nagiso station. Staff was helpful in calling the cab for us and the cab fares are quite reasonable. Overall, a good stay in a good hotel.

The hotel is very big and the hot springs feel great. The meal is a buffet with many varieties. The hotel has a good environment and is a bit far from Tsumago-juku, but there is a shuttle bus. Health: good Service: Fair

Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku are both a little far away. The food is good (both dinner and breakfast are buffets) The bath is large and nice, but far from the room. The room is large and good.

The hot spring was large and nice. The rice was buffet style, but there were quite a lot of varieties. It is a level that is very pleasing to families with children.

All-you-can-eat Haagen-Dazs ice cream was good. French toast was also delicious. There were many types of buffets. The quality of the hot spring was good and it became slippery.

Very Good

I visited again after more than 10 years since it was re-opened as a TAOYA hotel and stayed for two nights. It was mid-Golden Week so there were many families with children and seniors. The morning sparkling wine from Cedar is heaven for drinkers. The food is substantial with a time-based buffet of Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes (60 minutes for breakfast/90 minutes for dinner). I recommend the course with horse sashimi, which I haven't had in a long time! The bouillabaisse was also delicious. The source is 38°C, so it is a heated alkaline simple spring, but it is slippery and you can take a long bath. The rock bath and wooden bath are apparently wooden tiles, with men and women switching the rooms. It was strange that the newly built Japanese-Western room did not have a telephone in the room. It was a 0120 number. Next time I'd like to go on a quiet weekday. I also recommend TAOYA Shima (lol)

Very Good

Since the hotel is divided into the main building and the annex, I think it is better for elderly people and those with limited mobility to request a room when making a reservation so that they can move smoothly when using the restaurant and bath. The food was buffet style with a wide variety of dishes, so I was able to enjoy breakfast and dinner, but there were few staff members at breakfast time, so the food guide was not smooth and there was a pointless line, which was stressful. The large public bath had no partition between the changing room and the bathroom, so it felt open. The water temperature in the open-air bath was low, so my skin was smooth after bathing. The weather was bad and I was not able to enjoy the starry sky, which was the purpose of my trip, so I would like to try again.

I stayed at Hotel Kisoji, which I had been interested in for a long time, in time for the flower peach season. Since it is a hotel with a low price, there is no pick-up service, but if you park in the large parking lot, there are many carts in front of the entrance and you can bring your luggage to your room, which is very convenient. I called the front desk several times and asked for it, but I was grateful for the quick response. Minami Shinshu hot springs such as Nagiso and Hirugami are my favorites. The quality of the spring here is also very good. The inside of the hall is very well cleaned, and there is no problem with infection control at the buffet venue. The room was a Japanese-Western smoking room, but I was able to spend comfortably with two air purifiers and a deodorant spray. The area was perfect and very easy to use. This time, I used the Shinshu special and it was so cheap that I couldn't believe my eyes when I checked out. Even if you don't get the 5,000 yen discount, it's an inn you'll want to visit whenever you have the chance. It's hard to make a reservation, but I think it's the cheapest from the official website.
