West Wood Hotel

This is a really lovely boutique hotel that is quiet, very spacious, modern and has very attentive and accommodating staff. Rear garden has very quaint and peaceful views especially with the adorable monkeys swinging above you to keep you company. It would have been perfect except for the following flaws: 1) Most concerning is the theft of valuables. We had £40 and $100 lost during our stay. Can’t fully blame the hotel for it but there is a disclaimer in every room stating in bold that the management is not responsible for losses. There are safes in every room but these are of poor quality. Once we were offered a change of room. The safe in the second room was lacking batteries. The staff said that they had sent someone to fix it but it never worked. So we had instead locked our money in our suitcases but despite that, found that money was lacking when we counted them. Judging by the previous reviews, it seems that this is a known recurrence at this hotel. Out advice would be to NEVER leave any valuables in the room. Don’t use the safe. Take all your money with you when you are out and about. 2)There is mould in the bathrooms. The hotel could really invest in good humidity extraction systems. 3) They provide tea and coffee in the room. But no milk or creamer. Daft! 4) Ordering something at the restaurant takes a loooooooong time. The food is excellent though! Therefore on the balance of mixed emotions, this review earns 3 stars from me. Well worth it but be prepared for the above flaws

The hotel is a real gem in the middle of Nairobi. One side there's the proximity to Westlands with all the amenities like malls, bars and restaurants. And literally on the other side is the beautiful and calm Karura Forest. The service is perfect and the food has a nice variety.

The ambiance is out of the world. The food.... Oh my... The staff are extremely courteous.. I highly reccomend this hotel.. I loved the monkeys which were jumping around as if they were enjoying my presence..

The environment is amazing and the chef made amazing meals. Very fresh food and great juice options. The staff were also very warm and offered support.

We reached out via ******* days to check-in to request for a refund or amendment, the Hotel advised that they would reach out on status, they never did despite the reasons given for the request. That was rather distasteful and the lack of communication was most regrettable.

Worst stay I’ve ever experienced. I booked and paid the hotel through ********** however when I got there, they made me pay the rate I already paid a second time, charging me double because I had a guest. This was so unheard of, and I felt completely unsafe in a country I didn’t know at all. This is at very best a 2 star hotel, towels had a bad smell, the room door couldn’t be locked, and there’s no A/C or heater in the room.

the room is large and well equipped. The bed is very nice. The wifi is perfect. The restaurant is good, the breakfast is perfect. Above all, the staff is discreet, attentive and extremely kind. the hotel is on the edge of the forest in a very quiet place. In the early morning you can have fun watching dozens of monkeys play.

This is one of Nairobi's best kept secrets. Great, serene ambience you could as well be on a safari with all the wildlife around you. Great friendly staff and one of the best food I have tasted in an NBO hotel. I will stay here again and again.
