Very conveniently located near the station. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly. There's unlimited complimentary tea and coffee at the reception, available all day. They also offer a welcome drink where you draw lots to get sake, beer, or soda. You can swap the sake or beer for a soda if you prefer. The atmosphere truly feels like a traditional Japanese ryokan. I highly recommend this place.

Had a lovely stay at Ryokan O, we were upgraded to The beautiful family room, wish we could’ve stayed longer! Great start point for the Nakasendo trail, close to train station and easy access to walk around town. Our hosts were lovely, and helpful with maps and plans, the ryokan was clean and well equipped with amenities and supplies for breakfast, the bathrooms clean and great shower pressure! highly recommended

We booked the Ryokan O for one night stay and wish we stayed for longer. They are well located for anyone seeking to do the Nakasendo Trail, the staff were incredibly friendly and they even upgraded us to a larger room than we had booked.

Rooms are not very sound proof. Can hear conversations from the next room . Grateful for the complimentary breakfast though

Beautiful setting! The location is close to the train station and shops. The room is decent for a few nights.

We were just passing through Nakatsugawa doing some sections of the Nakasendo trail, and found this lovely ryokan by chance. It has been the single nicest place on our month long trip. On top of the room being lovely, everything was well thought out, clear translations provided, and they were so nice! Little things like that they provide extra extension cords on every room. Shower was good, beds were very comfy. Cannot recommend highly enough!

A wonderful guesthouse whose warmth I only fully appreciated after I left. No other hotel I've ever stayed in, before or since, has come close to this level of hospitality. Here you'll find a haven and be treated like family: tea, coffee, treats, and a peaceful place to relax. Thanks to the staff for creating such an atmosphere.

We loved this guest house. Pleasant common area. Helpful staff. Well located in town. Large room. Lots of resources for travellers hoping to walk the Nakasendo. Shared bathroom facilities were actually a bonus because the whole family could shower at the same time (in individual showers - which were very clean with great water pressure). Walls are thin but all guests/staff were considerate and the area is quiet at night so no issues.
