Shangri-La Nanjing

I've stayed at Shangri-La hotels in several cities before, and it's always been my favorite hotel brand. This time, I decided to spend a night at the one in my hometown, Nanjing. The room layout was a bit unique, with the bed facing a floor-to-ceiling window. However, my room didn't overlook Xuanwu Lake, so there wasn't much of a view. The room size was average, but the bathroom was huge, featuring both a shower and a bathtub, plus a vanity table – a consistent excellent tradition of Shangri-La. Upon check-in, I received welcome fruits and complimentary mini-bar drinks. I could also get hot drinks and ice cream at the lobby lounge, and they gave me a fridge magnet when I checked out. Every time I called the service center, they responded very promptly and even proactively offered turndown service with an exceptionally good attitude. In the evening, I dined at Jiangnan灶 (Jiangnan Zao). It wasn't crowded on a weekday, so I got a table without a reservation, which was perfect for using my voucher. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, offering Nanjing specialties like duck blood vermicelli soup, soup dumplings, and duck fat crispy pastries. However, the juice was too watered down; I suggest they switch to freshly squeezed. After breakfast, I went to visit the rooftop helipad. It was my first time seeing Nanjing from this perspective; Xuanwu Lake and Purple Mountain were all within sight, and the city skyline centered around Zifeng Tower was magnificent. Finally, check-out was a bit busy, and I had to queue for a while. Overall, it was a great staycation right at my doorstep.

This was my first trip to Nanjing, and I chose the Shangri-La as my first hotel. Later, I also stayed at the InterContinental, Jinling Hotel, and The Ritz-Carlton. However, overall, I was still very satisfied with the Shangri-La. Considering its location, service, dining, and views, the Shangri-La offers excellent value for money and meets the criteria for a regular stay in the future 😛. The location is, of course, unparalleled, encompassing the entire Xuanwu Lake landscape. This time, I stayed in an executive lounge suite, and the view was fantastic, directly facing Xuanwu Lake. The room was very comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent. Although the hotel isn't brand new, the hardware is very well-maintained. The bedding and bathroom amenities were very comfortable, which is also why I often choose Shangri-La. They truly understand what guests expect in terms of service quality, a hallmark of their classic luxury. The executive lounge is incredibly spacious and has high ceilings, making it feel very open. I loved spending time there, admiring the Xuanwu Lake view. Nanjing city spread out before me, making me not even want to go downstairs for a walk! 😄 Afternoon tea and dinner had continuous food service. While not exceptionally elaborate, it was very practical. During my two-day stay, there was a wide variety of dishes each day, including crayfish, duck, seafood salad, salmon, and more. There was also a good selection of alcoholic beverages, including red and white wine, and you could even mix your own cocktails 🍸🍹 We enjoyed making our own special concoctions 😋. The hotel service was the most satisfying 👍. Getting to the parking lot was also very convenient, with charging stations in the basement. The hotel's restaurant, "Jiangnan灶" (Jiangnan灶), is a Michelin-starred restaurant. I tried it on the second day and was very satisfied. I can't stop thinking about the June Imperial braised handmade rice cakes. The restaurant service was also excellent, and many locals were dining there 😄. It's also a respectable choice for business banquets. During my stay, the hotel staff were very attentive to our experience. I felt very well looked after and touched, so I must mention my thanks 🙏. Especially the lovely Laura, who was always accommodating. I'm someone who usually troubles hotel concierges, haha 😄. And thanks to Shark at the front desk for giving a small gift to our new Nanjing University student. The child was very happy. I specifically want to thank the brothers and sisters at Shangri-La for their service 🙏. Our university student still has four years of youth in Nanjing. Ending the summer vacation with a trip to Nanjing. I was very satisfied. The decor style is unique, and the check-in process was simple. The room design is minimalist and clean. They even provided a small fruit platter and a souvenir, which felt very thoughtful. The location is convenient, and all the scenic spots are accessible by subway… Thank you. Highly recommended!!!!

This trip, my group of 6 friends and I stayed in the Horizon Club rooms at Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing. Upon arrival, we checked in on the 40th-floor Horizon Club lounge. We requested rooms with good views, and the lovely ladies at the Horizon Club were incredibly enthusiastic and helped us switch to Horizon Club Double View Lake Corner Rooms, 3312 and 3412, which offered even better views. These rooms boast a massive floor-to-ceiling window spanning an entire wall, directly facing Xuanwu Lake with a distant view of Purple Mountain. The panorama is truly spectacular. Whether it's the sunrise in the morning or the sunset in the evening, the changing light and shadows in the room are incredibly therapeutic. We also received complimentary welcome fruits. During afternoon tea at the Horizon Club lounge, the staff provided an abundant selection of pastries and fruits. The desserts were exquisite and beautifully presented, with a balanced mix of sweet and savory options, and the fruits were fresh. While enjoying afternoon tea, we also took in the magnificent views of Xuanwu Lake. The evening happy hour at the Horizon Club was a treat for both the palate and the eyes. They offered delicious dishes like seasoned crayfish and a variety of other items. Paired with the lake view outside the window, it was a serene experience enjoying the food and scenery. For breakfast on the second day, we dined at the VIP Lounge on the 40th floor. It was a semi-buffet with made-to-order à la carte options, allowing us to leisurely enjoy our meal while admiring the views of Xuanwu Lake. We savored freshly prepared Eggs Benedict, exquisite Western hams, and hot Chinese specialties like xiao long bao, beef brisket noodles, and wontons. I particularly want to commend the staff at the Horizon Club lounge for their dedication and enthusiasm in providing excellent service to all guests, including helping us book lunch at Jiangnan Wok on the first floor. We look forward to staying at Shangri-La Hotel, Nanjing again on our next visit. Thank you!

The breakfast was absolutely delicious! I tried everything I wanted, and the duck oil pastries were definitely the best, hehe. The duck blood vermicelli soup was also very tasty, and the xiao long bao were good too. I booked a deluxe king room, and the hotel even upgraded me for free. The view from the window was great, with Xuanwu Lake in the distance, although the weather wasn't ideal on the second day. I requested a quiet, non-smoking room when I booked, and both requests were fulfilled. The room was also very close to the elevator, and the bedding was super comfortable – I had a great night's sleep. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom even had a dedicated vanity. When I ordered takeout, the delivery robot brought it right to my door, which was very convenient. The hotel lobby and the adjacent staircase were so beautiful! The last time I felt a hotel was this beautiful was when I stayed at the Shangri-La in Singapore, so I was pleasantly surprised by the one in Nanjing. On checkout day, they even gave me a fridge magnet! I'm someone who always buys fridge magnets as souvenirs when I travel, and I hadn't had time to buy one this trip, so getting one at the hotel was a delightful surprise. All in all, it was a satisfying stay in every aspect. If I had more time, I would have loved to stay a few more days.

Got an upgraded room with a fantastic view of Xuanwu Lake! Communication with customer service agent Jiujiu was very smooth; their service attitude and awareness were excellent. Next time I'm in Nanjing, I'll definitely choose Shangri-La again!

I stayed in a Southeast Corner Room, which offered stunning views of Xuanwu Lake and the city skyline simultaneously. The experience exceeded my expectations. The guest relations service was meticulous, reflecting thoughtful hospitality at every turn, and their responses were highly efficient. The staff at the Executive Lounge were also excellent; the high-floor environment was quiet and comfortable, and the afternoon tea spread was very generous. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

The breakfast at the Club Lounge was quite good, with à la carte options like duck blood vermicelli soup and soup dumplings. The hotel's pool facilities were decent, though the water was a bit cold, and there were no spare towels in the changing room. The hotel's location on Line 1 is super convenient for visiting Hongshan Forest Zoo. It's also a short jog to Xuanwu Lake for a morning run. Just one block north, there's an old neighborhood with a street full of snack shops. I tried Anjia Osmanthus Tangyuan and Zhengqing Beef Potstickers, both of which were delicious! Overall, I was very satisfied. Unless I'm planning activities around Zhongshan, I would definitely choose to stay here again when I'm back in Nanjing.

When checking in, I had a few requests, and the front desk staff met every single one of them. The room was spacious and bright, and the bedding was comfortable. The pool water quality was excellent. The left wardrobe door had a minor issue and wouldn't close tightly, but it didn't affect the overall stay. The hotel's provided charger was a bit slow, and there was no USB port on the other side of the bed. Breakfast was very rich and included local specialties.
