Ming Du Lakeside Hotel

The hotel boasts an excellent location, facing the famous South Lake to the north and offering unobstructed views of Mount Qingxiu to the south. The hotel service was fantastic! I needed a cardboard box for souvenirs to take back to Shanghai, and the staff went above and beyond to help, even providing packing tape and scissors, which really shows their attention to detail. A big shout-out to the front desk, bellhops, the parking attendant at the entrance, the telephone operators, and the restaurant staff – excellent work everyone! Breakfast was great, with a wide variety of options, including plenty of fruits and vegetable salads. The luosifen and old friend noodles were just as good as what you'd find at outside restaurants. I do have a small suggestion for the restaurant, though: it might be best to remove the food waste warning signs from the tables. Most guests at your hotel are very considerate. While these signs might deter a few less mindful individuals, they could inadvertently make the majority of guests feel disrespected. I hope the hotel will consider this.

1. This hotel must have been magnificent in its heyday, a veteran five-star property. We got an upgraded room, which was spacious and had a bathtub, but the door had a problem and wouldn't stay closed against the stopper behind it. 2. The breakfast was very rich, and both the 'Lao You Fen' (old friend noodles) and congee with fresh ingredients were delicious, meeting five-star standards. 3. The transportation isn't the most convenient, but it's not too far from Qingxiu Mountain, the Provincial Museum, and places to eat stir-fried ingredients – a taxi ride usually costs 8-12 yuan. 4. Compared to newer hotels, the facilities are noticeably outdated. Not only does it lack smart toilets and smart curtains, but it also doesn't provide disposable toilet seat covers, bathtub liners, or bath balls. Even the hand soap is the old-fashioned small bar. If the breakfast hadn't been so good, I would have considered giving it only 4 stars.

Much better than expected. The scenic views are fantastic, and it's very quiet. The pool is clean. There's a night market nearby, which is very convenient. Sister Xiao Lao at the Executive Lounge provides excellent service!

Convenient underground parking, though street-level parking is limited. The hotel is about 300-400 meters walk from a beautiful park across the road. The breakfast offers a wide variety of choices, and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely a recommended hotel.

The location is superb, offering views of Nanhu Lake and the green mountains – the scenery is absolutely stunning! The facilities are also great, especially the comfortable pool. Plus, it's really convenient for ordering takeout. 👍👍👍 Highly recommend!

Looking for a quick weekend getaway, I booked this hotel. The check-in process was smooth, with the front desk staff being friendly and attentive. The room itself was surprisingly spacious – I could spread my luggage out without it feeling cluttered, and the facilities were pristine, like a 5-star hotel. The next day, I stepped right out to Nanhu Lake and enjoyed a refreshing walk around it. For the price, the service and location were incredible. I feel like I got a fantastic deal and will definitely recommend it to friends! 🌟

Stayed at the Mingdu Hotel with my family, expecting a five-star experience, but the reality was a huge letdown. The room windows were completely sealed shut, so there was no ventilation. The carpeted floors meant moisture couldn't dissipate, leading to a persistent, pungent musty smell in the room. The sheets and duvet covers felt damp and clammy. After just one night, I woke up with an inexplicable itch, and the two elders with me also experienced skin discomfort. To our surprise, when my parents reported the situation to the front desk the next day, the staff's initial reaction wasn't concern for our health. Instead, they questioned whether we had picked up allergens from playing in the grass outdoors. Later, when the hotel manager communicated with us, they steadfastly refused to acknowledge any issues with the room environment, insisting that our discomfort was entirely due to our outdoor activities. The 'Mingdu' was truly a disappointment.
