Loews New Orleans Hotel

Downtown New Orleans
Firstly the best thing about this hotel is the people - from the minute we arrived, they were welcoming and friendly. The concierge was so helpful in booking trips for us along with other staff who suggested restaurants, directions etc. We chose breakfast in the hotel on one day which was OK and so decided to have breakfast another day as we were leaving on a trip and it seemed the obvious option; turns out they don't do breakfasts everyday which was not well advertised - and a little strange!! Anyway one of the cleaners clearly saw our confusion so suggested ”Mothers” diner across the road which was brilliant actually - the best pancakes we had in our entire trip in the States. Likewise the bar tender at the bar/restaurant is excellent. The only downside was that the hotel itself is a little tired and could do with some refurbishment and updating. Our room was lovely in terms of size and the bed was really comfy but some of the furniture was a little tarnished, the carpet somewhat dirty and the walls could do with a paint. But other than that, a good stay.

I booked a suite for my daughter and new son in law to stay at for their honeymoon as well as a block of rooms for the wedding guest. This property took my breath away from the moment I walked in-it's very charming and beautiful. Some of our guest were enjoying sitting in the lobby area and mentioned to me how impressed they were with the hotel, the staff and the rooms which made me very proud to have chosen this hotel. Every staff member I saw welcomed me and were very friendly-even though I wasn't technically a guest-they were eager to be helpful. Also, the hotel is conveniently located and easy to get to and from anywhere in the city.

We booked the hotel seeing that it had 4 stars, there was a pool and the amenities list said there was an oven and microwave for the room. I can tell you that when we got there we were definitely surprised and not in a good way. The pool was closed even though they put a sign on the door thanking people for staying 6 ft apart. I don’t understand how you can be 6 ft apart if you can’t even go into the pool area, let alone the pool itself. Another reason we were extremely unhappy was because we had brought frozen food expecting to be able to heat it up and there was no oven, nor a microwave in the room. For a 4 star hotel that is ridiculous! Additionally, the hotel was doing some COVID-19 relief programs which in retrospect is very nice of them due to the fact that New Orleans is a poor area, but they did not let us know about it when we booked the room and the outside the hotel was full of homeless people and others just sitting around smoking and drinking by both doors outside and roaming throughout the lobby. My husband and I were very displeased and even though the hotel was giving them food and water, they created a place where anyone could have definitely caught the virus if they aren’t careful enough or if anyone walking in had it. If we ever go back to New Orleans, we will not be staying there.

First time at a Kimpton and won’t be the last! Excellent location to all major sights. Check in swift, free beer or water to take to you room which I thought was a nice touch. Room was on the 18th floor and very spacious. The bed and pillows where so comfortable. Peacock bar was lovely with really good cocktails. Also loved the social hour with free wine 5-6 daily and the free tea and coffee in the morning. Loved our stay and would highly recommend.

The hotel is located directly on Mississipsi and you are on the next street block in the Frenchquater without then hear the permanent sound from there in the room at night. The reception is in the 11. Stock and you have to always change the denb driving chair on the way to the room, which is something hidden around the corner, but you will get used to it quickly. The breakfast is very good, we had also a dinner there, that is probably much better in a restaurant around the corner. The area for meetings is OK, which is partly noisy air conditioning cannot be placed in the rooms. My room was large, clean, well furnished. The room service did not clean at 2 nights per day, perhaps it was simply forgotten. I had the adapter for American. Unfortunately, the hotel cannot help, I expected you to borrow a adapter or buy a cheap one. After all, one knew a store in 10 minutes away, where I could actually buy one. All hotel staff were friendly and seemed committed. I would take the hotel again, you have a great view of Mississippi and town if the room is on the right side.

The interior of the room was ok. You can eat breakfast quite a bit. The surrounding area is very convenient. I think that it is a good hotel among the surrounding hotels.
