New Hotels in Luang Prabang

"How many times have you booked the same hotel 6 times in 6 weeks? I am in Laos for several weeks or maybe a few months and I do not know when I will leave. So every week I need to book a hotel for the following week. And for 6 weeks in a row I have decided to stay where I am - in the fantastic Merry Riverside Hotel, with its great buffet breakfasts (photos), friendly and helpful staff (photos) and immaculate clean rooms (photos). There is an abundance of hot water for the shower and the AC unit is silent and effective. I know that there are hotels located nearer to the old town peninsula. But for this price there are no hotels which can compete with Merry Riverside. And there is one huge advantage with being located on this quiet tributary of the Mekong River - there are no barking dogs or excited dawn roosters. I don't think I have ever stayed in such a quiet hotel in south east Asia. The historic old town might be a more architecturally beautiful neighbourhood, but it is surely also noisier there too. I can't recommend this hotel enough. If and when I return to Luang Prabang I hope to stay here again."

"Here's a comparison with Amantaka in the video: Pros: 1. **Great Location:** It's right on the walking street in the old town, and the bathroom facilities are among the best for this area. Even better than Amantaka, which costs 10,000 a night (Pic 8 shows Amantaka's toilet). 2. **Excellent Bedding:** The bedding is very new and high quality, probably 80-thread count, but feels more comfortable than Amantaka's, which claims to be 100-thread count. The price is 1/50th of Amantaka's. (The video shows an Amantaka room 🌝, and the bed isn't comfortable). This was one of the two most comfortable beds I slept on during this trip to Laos; the other was at Jam Boutique (Pic 9). Cons: 1. **Gap under Door/Windows:** The gaps under the windows and door are too big! No wonder mosquitoes get in. (3 Nagas also had large gaps, seems common in many guesthouses in Laos). 2. **Terrible Mosquitoes:** The tiger mosquitoes are dreadful. The owner really needs to seal up those gaps under the door and windows, otherwise, 'little fairies' from China will eventually bombard them with bad reviews. 3. **Awful Breakfast:** Seriously, it's terrible. The noodles tasted like boiled rags – completely bland."

"If it wasn't for the last day of laundry, maybe I wouldn't leave a review. Let me start with the location: The location is really good, close to the exit of the palace, the morning market is at the door, it is very convenient to go anywhere. And the environment: The environment is waiting, after all, the price is not expensive. However, the pictures on the Internet are several rooms together. I lived in the smallest one, next to the public toilet, a bit stinky by the way. There are a lot of mosquitoes and bugs in the room, but the store provides free mosquito coils. I haven't been bitten after staying for three days. I have to light the cockroaches for a while before going to bed every day. People are a bit uncomfortable. There is something to say about the service: The first time was that there was no refrigerator in the room, and there were pictures when booking. So I rode an electric bike for several kilometers to 711 to buy an ice cup. When I went back to the room, I saw that there was no refrigerator. I asked the boss and used their own refrigerator to help me freeze it. The next day, I found that the ice was almost melted. The next day, the boss pushed the refrigerator in another room for me to use. The service awareness was good, but I couldn't use it the next day. The second time is the laundry service. I gave the clothes to the boss in the morning and asked the boss if I could wash them at night. The boss said yes. There are very few clothes, and I received 20,000. However, I found that the clothes had not been given to me that night. The boss was eating at that time. I said don't worry, give it to me after dinner. As a result, I went out and the boss may have forgotten it. It rained that night, the clothes didn't seem to be dry the next morning, and the socks were missing. I was found in another place after I reminded me. Since I was planning to wear it the next morning, it was equivalent to white washing. Went home on a plane in dirty clothes."

"The room itself was alright but the fact that it’s a mixed dorm is kinda weird but probably the worst part is there is mixed gender bathroom / shower. It seems ok but all the room shared it and basically there’s no separation of gender when it comes to toilets and shower. The breakfast was decent and the location is easy to access."

"Excellent! The only downside was the language barrier, and the breakfast selection was quite limited. However, the hotel environment is beautiful, and the facilities are well-appointed and stylish. The plants are also a lovely touch. I'd definitely stay here again next time."

"I enjoyed my stay here. The place has a nice vibe and my room was comfortable and clean. The shower door and drain needs fixing but everything else was great. The location is wonderful. Riverside, palace, temples, restaurants, bars, massage, night market etc are all very close. My only regret is not being able to stay longer. I will likely stay here again next time I come back to Luang Prabang."

"This hotel is excellent, and the owner is incredibly welcoming. The room was spotless, with no missed spots. The bedding was also very comfortable. The owner is from Zhejiang, China. The front desk staff also speak very good Chinese. For the same price point, you can't go wrong with this one. Compared to other hotels in Luang Prabang, this one also has excellent soundproofing. The facilities are quite similar to what you'd find in China."

"My wife and I stayed here for three nights with our two children, and we had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Traveling with young kids means we're always careful when choosing a hotel, and this one definitely exceeded our expectations. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and nicely designed. There was plenty of space for the four of us, and we never felt cramped. The beds were very comfortable, and we all slept really well during our stay. One of the highlights was the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. Whenever we had a question or needed something, they responded quickly and made us feel genuinely cared for. The location was another big plus. It was easy to get around, yet the hotel itself was quiet and relaxing after a busy day. Breakfast had a good variety of fresh and tasty food, and it was a great way to start each morning. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back. We'd happily recommend this hotel to families as well as anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay."
