Hotels near St Cadoc＇s Church in Newport

After watching the hot air balloon from Bristol, I found this resort on the way to Cardiff. The room and breakfast are great! The price of the hotel can live in such a five-star hotel really worth it! The only dissatisfaction is that it takes 15 pounds a night to park overnight.

I checked in very late and the room card was ready when I arrived. Parking was free. The room was comfortable and equipped with basic shower supplies.

My daughter booked this for a spa day for us. Sadly I wouldn’t recommend didn’t feel spa like at all. The girls in the spa were lovely but whilst having what was meant to be a relaxing massage all you could hear was loud music from a fitness class so couldn’t switch off. Had to be asked to be shown around and charged £10 for robe and slippers. Lunch was ok but for very little was £50 The pool area only had 6 beds in total other than that was chairs. Just not the relaxing spa day you would expect then there was no staff in the pool area where 3 young lads proceeded to keep water bombing in the pool so we didn’t go in. I’d avoid this if you wanted a relaxing peaceful day.

Cannot fault accommodation and service. Excellent room, food and staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Booked in 30th Aug - 2 Sept 22. (Room 226) On arrival was met by young man who was brilliant, explained everything and had a good laugh. The rest of the staff were of the same ilk, friendly and very helpful. Went into the room and first impressions were ok. The bed is a standard double. not good when you have a bed hogging wife. The sheets were clean and fresh and although small the bed was comfortable. They could do with putting plug sockets on both sides of the bed. Its a small bed so wouldn't need too much cabling. The bath is ok if you are a size 0, however, any larger, forget it. I couldn't get my lardy **** into it. But on the plus side, it was clean and tidy. Issues with the bathroom, Went I went for a tinkle in the middle of the night, I burnt my retinas out because the lights are super bright, not what you need at 0200hrs. maybe a night light or mirror light could be installed. A little more attention to the carpets would have been nice, found some shirt buttons that had been missed (previous occupant must have got lucky) because they were in different areas of the room. Breakfast, We went twice, first day at 0900hrs, it was ok, little on the cold side, went again on last day at 0800hrs and it was perfect. Tasty and hot. My biggest issue is the heat. the room was a sauna, I must have lost at least a stone. the fan given in the room is as much use as a chocolate fire guard. I hardly slept the three nights we were there as it was way too hot. even, the wife (who practically sits on a radiator) struggled. Wasn't the best hotel I've stayed in, but certainly not the worst . Over all 7.5/10

Environment (Figure 1): On a remote street in Cardiff, surrounded by residential areas (Figure 2), people who are new to the city need to use Google Maps to find it. The environment is good during the day. There is a bar downstairs. The hostess is very polite. I arrived late. Lauren was amazing - found us a room that we could check into around 7am when our flight was cancelled a couple of hours earlier. Lauren even printed our new boarding passes for us. Lovely staff member. Room was small but fine, no extra pillows were available though. Bathroom shower was lovely - very powerful :) Air con said 18 degrees but I’m not sure it was quite that cool. Location is excellent and great value for money. Again, kudos to Lauren! Remember - no restaurant on site but PLENTY of options on the doorstep!

Overnight stay following a wedding. Great location for our purpose. Room was clean and had all of the expected amenities and services. Tea tray was well stocked. Check in is 2pm, which was awkward as the wedding service was at 1:30. I booked two rooms so paid an additional £20 to check in early at one of these rooms. I telephoned the reservations team on two occasions a few days prior to our stay to enquire about the check in process and how access to the room would be facilitated since we would not be returning from the wedding until 1am. My only criticism would be the lack of clarity I received from the respondents. As a result of the insufficient answers to my questions, I made provision to leave the wedding venue during the day to check in at the second room. Upon arrival at the Two Rivers, all my additional arrangements were negated as the gentleman who checked us in, allowed us to check in for the second room there and then and take the key card. Other family members were staying in the room and I was paying for it. The access to the room was via a separate accommodation block and simply using the key card. All my additional arrangements to check in during the day were unnecessary. It would have been very easy if the respondents to my telephone calls earlier that week had given me that information. We had a good night's sleep and the breakfast was excellent and very reasonably priced.
