The Seagate

Absolutely fantastic B&B. Super clean, comfortable, cosy decor, and a very spacious room overlooking water. In our room (room 10) there was an espresso machine, some biscuits, and a cute little chocolate on our pillows. Of the five B&Bs we stayed at on this holiday The Seagate had arguably the best breakfast (competing with a 4 star B&B in Clovelly). We actually chose to have a continental style breakfast with plenty of fruit, cereal, an amazing hand prepared yogurt pot. We didn't have a cooked breakfast because we'd already eaten so much over the holiday, but judging by the quality of everything else, I'd wager their cooked breakfasts are great, too. The Seagate is listed on Google as a 3 star hotel but we've no idea why because it easily competes with, and in some cases outshines, some of the 4 star B&Bs we've been to. There is an incredible icecream van that parks just outside the Seagate, and there is also a bus stop just outside as well. You can walk out of the hotel, cross the road, and get the 21A bus directly to Barnstaple train station - super convenient if you're traveling to/from London. We were really thrilled with our stay here and I hope to come back soon with my mum. Note: Sometimes B&Bs that double as pubs/restaurants seem too busy to be attentive to their staying guests, but that is not the case here. When we arrived the pub was literally packed, couldn't have been busier, and we still got a first rate, friendly service, and surprisingly couldn't hear the pub crowd from our room.

Lovely pub and welcome. Room very comfortable, if a little warm but we were out and about in the village so not a problem. Every member of staff we encountered were courteous, helpful and smiling and the food was delicious!! We hope to return 😊

Perfect hotel for a couple of nights away in a great location, credit to Jamie, he looked after us from check in, to check out, no job was too big for him considering we were a party of 13! Polite and hard working young man, Thankyou Jamie! Second time coming to appledore and staying at the Seagate, will be returning in the future.

Room 10 at the Seagate Hotel in Appledore. A lovely room with a huge window pointing out to the estuary. Massive comfortable bed. I would ask for this room again. Breakfasts are really good and a great bar area and outside seating, which catches the sun in the morning and evening.

We had a wonderful stay at The Seagate. Our room was in a separate building a minute, if that, walk away. It was large, clean and very quiet. Our bed was super comfy, the shower was lovely and hot with fabulous toiletries. Best of all was the amazing view from all the windows overlooking the quayside and over to Instow. The staff were super helpful and nothing was too much trouble for dthem.

Stayed at the Seagate to attend a funeral nearby. All of the staff were lovely especially the room service people who were very helpful . Gave us extra towels to wipe the bathroom floor as it had got wet and we needed to get ready . Rooms are ok and the area is quiet at night time, except for the seagulls ! Pub very friendly with great food. There is also a Sunday night quiz if that’s your thing . The best bit of all is that is is so dog friendly real home from home for us anyway !

A very comfortable stay, the food, service and staff were all great - Michelle especially! Well done all for trying hard to make our short stay memorable. The location on the quay is lovely and our room had amazing views over the estuary - we loved it.

Fab night out with a lorge group of friends ( 30+) for food and drinks. The staff, food and service where lovely and. The young man behind the bar called Noah was very good and knowledgeable at recommending and making wonderful cocktails 🍸 🍹🍷.

We have really enjoyed our stay - will definitely be back - lovely food and warm welcome and service and comfortable room - thank you - we hadn't been to Appledore before and liked it a lot a gentle wander through the old streets and good food back at the Seagate - very happy we visited
