Kai Zanzibar Hotel and Spa

We stayed at Kai for 2 nights, and what an amazing experience we had. The staff were fantastic, attentive and very helpful. We were there celebrating my 30th birthday and they made it special from the moment we arrived. The decor is absolutely beautiful, the surroundings look amazing. So romantic. A special mention to the founder ibrenham, he was so welcoming from the minute we arrived, checked in with us to make sure everything was ok, and overall a lovely man. Breakfast was really good, so much choice of food, we could never finish it all as you get so much of it! But it was beautiful. I will 100% be back. Highly highly recommend.

A well thought out hotel. I've stayed at many hotels in Zanzibar, but this one is by far the best. Perfect place for couples looking for a romantic getaway. Everything feels carefully planned and thoughtfully designed, down to the smallest detail. The staff were excellent, and the level of cleanliness was outstanding, especially compared to some other standards you can find on the island. We'd be very happy to stay here again on our next visit to Zanzibar. Highly recommend!

Veronica and her entire team embody hospitality at its very finest: attentive, sincere, and always caring. Thanks to them, the stay becomes an unforgettable interlude, where everything is pure luxury, calm, and pleasure. The restaurant is simply outstanding. The cuisine is refined and flavorful, perfectly enhanced by an excellent selection of cocktails and freshly pressed fruit juices. Enjoying them by the turquoise central pool, or in the absolute tranquility of your private garden while relaxing in a hammock, is a pure moment of bliss. To complete the experience, do not miss the massages ask for Ester, whose treatment is exceptional: deeply relaxing and perfectly in harmony with the spirit of the place. The location is another major highlight. The hotel is ideally situated near the iconic beaches of Nungwi and Kendwa, renowned for their turquoise waters and breathtaking sunsets. This privileged setting allows easy access to the lively and festive spots of the region, while returning to Kai always feels like coming back to an absolute haven of peace calm, soothing, and deeply relaxing. Kai Zanzibar is a beautiful property with stunning accommodation and an excellent breakfast each morning. The local staff were warm, welcoming, and worked incredibly hard to make our stay enjoyable. Unfortunately, a few things let it down. We were surprised to find that no alcohol is served on the property and we found the dinner menu expensive for the quality. The coffee machine was also out of service for our entire stay. There was also quite a lot of noise from around 5am each morning, which made it difficult to sleep. The overall atmosphere also wasn’t quite what we had expected. Although the management team were often around the property, there was very little interaction with guests, and we witnessed a few occasions where members of management spoke to the local staff in a way that left us feeling uncomfortable. The property itself is beautiful, and the local staff are a real credit to the hotel. While there were many positives to our stay, the overall experience didn’t quite live up to our expectations.

The location is excellent, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful location & facilities. Tranquil & serene. Rooms are immaculate. Manager is totally useless - does not engage with or acknowledge guests or staff at any point. House managaress was outstanding and should be in charge. Food was sub-standard and some staff could neither speak nor understand English.

We had a wonderful stay at Kai Zanzibar Hotel and Spa. It’s the perfect place for couples...quiet, romantic, and beautifully designed. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and our villa was clean and very comfortable, with a lovely private pool. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, ideal if you want to unwind. Breakfast was great, though dinner is a bit pricey. Overall, a fantastic choice for a romantic getaway—we would definitely return.
