We loved this hotel, the surrounding, the stuff, the food - everything was just perfect! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Sri Lanka

A Truly Exceptional Retreat Our stay at Goatfell was short but unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out as genuine, attentive, and sincere in a way that is increasingly rare. Every member of the team made us feel welcomed and cared for. The food was exceptional. Beautifully prepared dishes using locally sourced ingredients and their selection of teas, including a lovely hibiscus tea, made every meal a real pleasure. The crisp mountain air and the sound of the strong winds added to the atmosphere. We were told the winds were intensified by a cyclone to the north of Sri Lanka, but indoors we were completely comfortable. The bungalow itself is remarkable. The extra thick walls and solid construction reflect the building practices of the time when it was originally built for high elevation living. At nearly nineteen hundred meters above sea level, the surroundings feel almost transported from another part of the world. The magnificent trees, many originally brought from Scotland, give the entire estate a serene and historic character. Although we were only able to stay for one night, it was truly peaceful. Despite the cold temperature and the strong winds outside, we slept extremely well. Goatfell is a special place and one that we very much hope to return to for a longer stay.

We have just left Goatfell after a 2 night stay for our anniversary and agree that this is the best hotel we have stayed in. We loved the hotel, the environmental consciousness and most of all the team. The cooking demo, hike of the Peko trail with the hotel naturist and whole experience was exceptional. The team noted our preferences e.g. the fruit we liked and portion sizes and remembered this throughout our stay always adding personal touches. The food was incredible as was the setting. Do not hesitate to book your stay!

We spent 3 nights at Goatfell, and was sad to leave, yes this review is delayed, we have stayed at Nine skies earlier in Ella, this is a fantastic bungalow. We were lucky for 2 nights we had the whole place to our selves. The food was amazing the staff was on a the ball and very attentive, we so much gourmet food, every meal was perfectly crafted, tea in the afternoons was a delight, definitely a taste of paradise.

The experience was exceptional from end to end. To start off, the property is really beautiful and has breathtaking views everywhere you look. The garden is beautiful and calm and very well maintained. Loved strolling into the forest which was right next door. You have a really nice view of the tea estates and near by mountains and villages right from the garden. You have the pekoe trail really close by to the Bunglow which offers even more breathtaking scenery within just a short hike. Most importantly the food and service was exceptional. Every dish we had was carefully curated by the well talented chefs, we loved everything we had. The staff cared for us so well and offered us personalized attention throughout the stay. They even took us to visit the nearby villages and also explained the heritage around the property and all the folktales from the nearby mountains. Have been back home only a day ago and I already deeply deeply miss this stay. Had such a calm and relaxing stay. Thank you everyone at the property for making it so special. Recommend it 110/100 Can’t wait to go back again to experience it all again!

What an amazing location set high up in a tea plantation. The level of service was worthy of 5 stars only having four rooms ensured that we were treated with exceptional service. The food was of the highest quality all locally sourced and presented with exceptional care. This hotel was the standout hotel of our tour of Sri Lanka.
