Americas Best Value Inn Oakland

My experience at this motel was, unfortunately, one of the worst I’ve ever had. I understand it’s a budget option, but there are certain minimum standards that simply weren’t met. The Negatives: • Cleanliness: The room was far from clean. The carpet felt sticky, and there were stains on the bedding and curtains. I even spotted a cockroach in the bathroom, which was horrifying. • Smell: The room had a strong, musty odor, and the air freshener they used to mask it made things worse. • Noise: The walls were paper-thin, so I could hear everything from loud neighbors to the sound of cars in the parking lot. I barely slept because of the noise. • Amenities: The advertised “free Wi-Fi” barely worked, and the TV was outdated with limited channels. The bathroom had no hot water, and the towels provided were thin and scratchy. The Positives: The only good thing I can say is that the check-in process was quick. The room was so bad, that I immediately left the property, via Uber and slept at the airport

We requested a handicap accessible room. When physically checking in, they said the current occupants extended their stay and it was no longer available. The room we had was filled with the smell of secondhand smoke (non-smoking room) and there was a live cockroach.

Cons: Smells like cigarettes inside the room, lots of burn holes in blankets, roaches in restroom, microwave was half burnt light bulbs were out in restroom and in main room lamp. Key card did not work until maintenance had to replace batteries in the door unit which took a whole day. Had to get something from the room and while the key card did not work since maintenance hadn’t come yet, I went to front desk and no one was there to let me in. I waited for 30 minutes. Pros: Fridge worked well, shower worked well, A/C worked well. Great location for the Oakland Marathon.

For the price we didn’t expect much-we could deal with the area and the company around the other rooms—but no heat at night —no no no. Had to sleep fully clothed in shoes to try to keep warm! Staff was super nice. It was run down — but the cheapest

Convenient location, but a lot of work is required Not safe. Vandalism occurred at the office before I arrived.

This location is infested with roaches! Staff is rude. Rooms arnt even stocked with towels or soap of any kind. Horrible experience. I would never recommend this location.
