Feel so comfy to stay at here, loved the room decorations and especially the massage chair in public area, that was heaven after a long drive!! They even got a bidet in the bathroom hahahaha

Good hostel. Reasonable price and well equipped facilities. I would stay here if I come Oamaru again. One bad thing. There is no front desk. So guests always have to be aware of PIN that lets you get inside (even their room). So I had to bring my mobile even when I went to the toilet. If I had forgotten my room PIN, I couldn't open the door of my room.

Despite being a backpacker hostel, the cleanliness was impeccable. I particularly enjoyed the small garden at the back!

Compact yet charming, with a fully self-service check-in. The location is excellent, roughly a 20-minute walk to the penguin viewing area. Super convenient!

The surroundings and amenities were decent. The only downside was that the room didn't have a private bathroom, which was a bit inconvenient. However, I suppose that's typical of a backpacker hostel, and it's all part of the experience.

The wooden house has creaky floors, so you need to walk lightly. There's no private bathroom; about two to three rooms share one shared bathroom (toilet and shower). The interior decor is charming and unique, clearly a lot of thought went into it. Check-in is via a code, which can be a hassle if you miss the email – I personally spent a long time trying to find it. The single bed is quite narrow, but that seems to be a common standard abroad.
