La Catrina de Alcala

Very nice and convenient location along main pedestrian street that is lit up during Christmas season.

We visited Oaxaca City in September, 2025, and stayed for a week at La Catrina de Alcalá. We had a King room towards the back of the building. The room was large with plenty of room to store all of our items (clothes, toiletries, backpacks, umbrellas, etc.) and was very quiet. The bedding was comfortable and the room was very clean. The staff were all very helpful and kind. The included breakfast was continental, so we ordered off the menu a couple of times. All the food was delicious and fresh. I especially enjoyed the Chicken Mole Tamale. Finally, the location was perfect! The hotel is located on a pedestrian only street in the heart of the city. We were able to walk everywhere! We would definitely recommend this hotel and will return on our next trip to Oaxaca City.

Loved almost everything about this hotel. Let me start with the positive. For being downtown it was quiet. Loved the location and out onto a pedestrian-only street. Wait, the staff were friendly. Rooms are large and ifyou open a window you can get some light. There are no exterior windows, that is the way most of these were built. I was a little disappointed that the rooftop was not open (that is why I gave this a 4.5 stars) because it would have been nice to visit in the afternoon.

Excellent! So helpful! Rafael was our waiter for breakfast and he was great! He was so accommodating and brought us coffee while we waited for the kitchen to open. We were able to order and eat with plenty of time to meet our guide for our day trip. The Racheros Catrina were very delicious!

The location was perfect for getting everywhere. It was a wonderful place to come back to each day. The people were extremely nice and Rafael Brito Mtz also a great help in making us feel comfortable and informed.

Location: PERFECT!!! On the main walking street where there was lots of activity (processions, food, festivities) but the hotel was quiet. Our room was even better than we expected - king bed with private bath- very clean Service was exceptional. Rafael Martinez made us feel like family on the first day. If we were younger, we would plan to come back many times.
