Impala Island Inn

OCNJ is a family-favorite beach town. We visit twice a year. We've stayed in lots of different hotels and rental houses when we visit. This was the first time staying at the Impala Inn. Very mixed reviews on this hotel. As with most motels in the area it showing it age a bit. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The location to the board walk and beach was excellent. It's right behind the amusement park so if youre an early to bed person it might be too loud for you until the rides close at 10:00pm. Beware! The parking is terrible. There is a small lot at the motel. They have an overflow lot for when you inevitably can't find a spot in the main lot. Not ideal. Came back from dinner, all the parking lots were full. Went to the lobby to inquire about where to park and it had 3 other families already addressing the situation with the clerk. We negotiated parking at their property across the street until a spot became available at our motel. Parking never did become available so we just kept the car across the street. This was frustrating but I was willing to chalk it up as a minor inconvenience. Then housekeeping came and made only one or the two beds and didn't replace the used towels with clean ones. That was enough for me to determine we won't be coming back. Sad because the location really is good for beach and boardwalk fun.

If you are just looking for basics and want a clean place to sleep near the boardwalk, this checks the boxes. No continental breakfast or even a microwave in your room. But everything worked - ac, fridge, shower. No complaints. There is a nice pool and the vending machines have cold 20 ounce water bottles for $2.00 which is not too bad. Also, check in is 3 and check out is 11 not 10 like some places. Rates were good compared to other hotels nearby. Would recommend.

This motel is 1/2 block from the boardwalk and at a midpoint of the boardwalk. So you are right in the middle of all the shops, rides, etc. Also an easy walk to restaurants and shopping on Asbury. The room was decorated cute and we found the beds to be comfortable. Room 121 is accessible. There is a very strong bar installed between the toilet and tub to use as a grab bar. It worked fine for me but could be an issue if someone needed more room getting into the tub. Check in and check out were quick and easy and they were friendly. I am hoping to make this an annual trip. Ocean City is such a lovely town and this motel was the perfect base to explore it from.

Great location, clean room, and everything we needed. Stayed for two nights mid-week. Enjoyed the pool, proximity to the beach and boardwalk, and amenities. Loved the pool, and the fellow vacationers that we met were nice, and have been coming here for years. The rooms aren’t fancy, but they’re clean, large, and have everything you need. The beds were quite comfortable too. Would recommend and will definitely return.

Expensive but you’re right at the boardwalk. The room was bright and clean. Nice that it had a sofa. Pool area was ok - nice for a quick dip but I wouldn’t lounge there. The staff was very nice. Parking is free, but tight. It’s a motel, so people are close. People above were loud. People behind us were smoking some serious **** and the smell filled our bathroom. But we had a nice weekend. Shame you can’t just get one night stay.

We have been coming to the Impala Island Inn for forty years. We were pictured on their brochure that year with our children! What a hoot;) we continued to come with our grandchildren and then grandchildren. We have stayed in all of the different sections but usually like the Southside suites the best as there is more room when we take a grandchild. Yes, there is that roller coaster but we usually put on a white noice and kids are so tired by 9 or ten that it isn’t a problem. Never use the WiFi. As for the staff... there awesome! This particular visit has me praising Jackie who found us just the right room as I can’t do steps, and so on. The room by the pool was recently remodeled. Beautiful! I agree that they really really really need to get a microwave and coffee pot in the room. Period. The most important reasons we stay here is the closeness to the beach, how clean it is, the comfortable bed and pillows and the staff.

We had a fun two night stay in September. Great location steps from the main amusements in Ocean City, as well as the beach and boardwalk. We had two rooms: our 2 queen room was recently refurbished, while our king room had new bedding but older furniture, so it looks like room refurbishments are ongoing. Pool was advertised as heated but really too cold for a swim in late September. The properly in general has a cold, concrete look and feel to it; again, it looks like improvements are being made, hopefully maybe a paint job and some more "whimsical" touches (like some of the motels in Wildwood) to make it feel more like a vacation at the beach are part of the plan. This would make a solid property even better. One thing to NOT change is the friendly staff, but please, either put coffee makers in the rooms or have some in the lobby.

The rooms are very clean, always have been, but they have let the pool area and parking areas go. Bandaids left on the ground by the pool for days, along with discarded cups, Kleenex, etc. Sand not removed from the kids pool. The contrast between in doors and out doors couldn’t be more dramatic. The really need to get this together.

This motel is right next to Playland's Castaway Cove. This is a must stay location for families. Convenient to shops and dinning. Had a nice swimming pool. My only negative comment would be that its time this motel upgrades to hotel room key cards.
