Not a bad hotel, convenient location, good service. The hotel is not new, but everything is in good condition, original design. 10 minutes from the beach, there are two swimming pools. Breakfast is very, very modest and not very varied.

I went to albufeira for 7 nights and this hotel couldn’t have been better, they were incredibly nice and helpful and it is such a nice and clean place and would totally recommend visiting there 😊😊😊

I am currently staying at the Balaia Mar while our 2 bed apt (booked through air b &b) is perfect, well equipped, clean and very spacious I will not be returning due to atmosphere and rules at the pool area. We can not bring as much as a bottle of water to the pool without being pounced on by staff saying pool is extension of restaurant and only food/drink purchased there allowed. The bar is totally overpriced large water is €3, large beer is €5 which probably explains why the bar is empty every evening. The staff are friendly and smiling but will approach you every half an hour or so while laying on sunbeds offering cocktails/drinks, it is very annoying and does not lend to a relaxed day by the pool. Very disappointing.

I stayed here recently and honestly, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The hotel is old, outdated, and has zero charm. The rooms are small and while they’re somewhat clean, they’re crawling with bugs. Not exactly what you want when you’re trying to relax. The pool area is basically an extension of the restaurant, which explains why they’re so strict about outside food or drinks — but it’s still ridiculous. You’re not allowed to bring anything with you, not even a snack. They clearly just want to force you to buy their overpriced food and drinks, which aren’t worth it. Speaking of food: the breakfast was soggy and bland, and dinner on the first night was even worse. We didn’t bother going back after that. There is no atmosphere whatsoever. The hotel bar is the most depressing place I’ve ever been. The barman just stares at one of four TVs showing football. No music, no welcome, no vibe. We stayed for an hour just to play pool and it felt like a wake. The bed? Lumpy. The only thing that worked properly was the air conditioning — and that’s about the nicest thing I can say. For the money they charge, this place is a joke. Buggy, boring, and joyless. Avoid.

One of the worst hotels in Albufeira, starting with the hotel room, the mattress is awful, not possible to sleep on, the outside terrace was not clean, the table was dirty. The pool tables and other arcade games, you must pay for them although they are part of the bar in the hotel. The breakfast literally tastes like animal food, as it is with every other food offered in the restaurant of the hotel, the eggs were overcooked, the scrambled eggs were in soggy wet water, the bread was hard and not possible to eat it without breaking your jaw, the coffee was awful and the vegetables offered with the food were at least a week hold. The food is cooked in grease and it looks and tastes awful, Balaia hotel performs fraudulent misrepresentation with advertising a nice breakfast buffee with many various options, when you go to the breakfast in person, it just looks like you got ripped off. You have to pay for everything extra.

Very friendly, welcoming and helpful Ladies in Reception. They gave us all the local areas to visit. Hotel is a 5 Minute walk from a beautiful Beach with a lovely Cave there. Rooms comfortable, clean and spacious. There's a SPAR Shop and Pharmacy across the road. Hotel is a walkable 40 minutes from New Town, which is handy for local Restaurants for Breakfast etc. The Hotel has 3 Lovely Pools. It's also a nice quiet Hotel. I would definitely stay here if returning to Albufeira.

This is the worse hotel I have stayed in and I have stayed in a lot .To start the rooms are not very clean we were ate alive by bedbugs sliding doors to rooms broken and you would be nearly afraid to complain. Claims to be a family hotel but the children could not move we felt intimated and on watch for our whole stay. The level of meanness from the hotel owners and bosses bullying the staff member Vinay to play the role of security guard while serving food and drinks and being friendly to everyone was absolutely shocking. A couple of the children in our party have sensory issues regarding food and we brought in the only crisps they eat and vinay was set on us like we had broken the law. We bought drinks cocktails coffees and lunch for us every day in the hotel and its not cheap and all we done was bring crisps in not bottles of alcohol and poor vinay was set on us.The bosses and owners in this hotel have zero manners but are all smiles taking your money for the overpriced bland food.On the floor I was on I constantly smelled **** so you can't bring in some treats and food that children will only eat but its perfectly OK to smoke *****. The lady serving in the bar was such a lovely friendly lady who looked to be terrified of the so called boss like he a mob man .The only good thing about this hotel is the manners of vinay and the lady at the bar .It was not just our party who felt this way it was everyone at the pool feeling on edge.If there was a zero star I would give it. We as a group had plans to return as a party of 50 in September but we will not be returning here.

The Hotel Balaia Mar in Albuferia is a little out of the way, approx. 15 mins by taxi from old town. There is a small beach with a restaurant bar approx. 10min walk down small slope. The hotel itself, dont expect evening entertainment, the bar is dead. The pools are good (water cold), more a couples place. The staff were very friendly. The linen and towels were changed every day. However, the breakfast was very disappointing. There was about 3 different cereals, the fruit was in one bowl i.e. banana, apple, orange (peel yourself) not diced. The cooked breakfast :/ ?? - ok, so we went to restaurant at 9.40am and the breakfast is until 10am. There was scrambled egg, beans, 2 x strips of chewy bacon and 1 x bratwurst (no normal pork sausages) left. You had to toast bread yourself, total: € 10.50 There is a Spar across the road and we stocked up on cereals and bread/snacks. There is a small fridge in each room so was handy. We ate in old town every night, approx 4 - 6 euro in Uber which is a fantastic service, arrives in minutes just download app to your phone. Restaurant prices were similar to Ireland, some cheaper than others. Glass wine approx. € 8. pint beer € 6, cocktails € 10 - € 12 but there was allways a happy hour somewhere. Would recommend if you want somewhere quiet, 1 week is enough. Paid € 2047.50 for 5 people hotel only for 7 nights June 2025.
