Onomichi Kokusai Hotel Reviews

I stayed here during my solo motorcycle tour along the Shimanami Kaido. It was great having restaurants within walking distance. At checkout, I had a nice chat with a female staff member who also rides motorcycles, which made for a good memory. I'd definitely like to stay here again next time I'm in Onomichi.

The hotel's location is perfect if you're driving, and they offer free parking. It was a pleasant surprise to find staff members from Hong Kong, so we could communicate in Cantonese, which made us feel right at home. The included breakfast was also quite good. However, the room size for this type wasn't particularly spacious.

It's a bit of a walk from Onomichi Station, but you can totally enjoy a city walk, haha! If you don't mind the distance, I was very happy overall. The experience was great, and the auntie kept everything super clean!

The servicev of this hotel is unspeakable. I was there with a friend for the Shimanami Kaido, but Got a nerve trapped and had to rest. I booked a single Room for a night but later decided I needed 2 nights for recovery. I had to change Room from a double to a single Room - and the reception made it clear to me that I had booked for 3 nights 1 + 2 nights - not alterer the original booking from 1 to 2 nights. I made it clear i Only needed 2 nights as my friend returned. The hotel Said itcwould be ok - but when I looked at my bank account 3 nights were charged. When I mentioned that to the reception they Said they did not do a refund - but I would rater have used my Room for a pieceful night of sleep and so would my friend than being ripped of by a greedy hotel.

Rooms are very clean and nice. Same as most of the Japanese hotels room size is slightly bigger

The moment I stepped into the hotel, I was hit by a sickening smell of stale cigarette smoke. Even though it's been renovated and looks clean, the odor from when smoking was allowed seems to be deeply ingrained, and even new wallpaper hasn't gotten rid of it. Our room had a powerful Panasonic air purifier, and turning it on did help to lessen the smell, but I imagine it would still bother sensitive people. What really surprised me was that even though I had called ahead to reserve breakfast, they had no record of my name. It was quite a hassle to find a place to eat in an unfamiliar city. I also have a leg injury and use a cane, and since I was driving, I called the hotel about parking. They told me to park in the underground garage, but when I arrived, it was full. I was directed to a parking lot quite a distance away, which was a real inconvenience. It felt like there was a complete lack of communication and coordination, and for a hotel that wasn't even particularly cheap, it was a very disappointing experience. The man at the front desk was constantly looking at his screen, not even bothering to look up at me, let alone smile. From the start, I had a bad feeling, and it turned out to be right. I will never go back.

Good location, less than 1km from Onomichi Station. For those arriving by Shinkansen, the hotel is about 4km from Shin-Onomichi Station. Excellent Japanese breakfast. Only downside: the bed is a bit small.

The shuttle bus brought us to and from the station and the hotel staff was incredibly helpful and friendly! We had a lovely time and enjoyed their dinner recommendations!

Not much of choice nearby. This one gets the job done!

Far from Onomichi train station,wifi inside the room is very poor connection,no restaurants nearby however near to Lawson and car parking is free

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel. It is a distance from the train station but there’s a free shuttle to and fro from the JR station Onomichi. Just check with the hotel for the timings on the day of your arrival and make a request - the subsequent shuttle services can be booked via QR code that you can save and scan when required. There’s a Lawsons nearby too.
