The Richland

Great hotel in the heart of Orange! Hotel is lovely and feels like being welcomed to your best friend’s house. You can hear doors open and close and footsteps in the hallways so be prepared for that. Also might be loud if an event is happening there so check before you go as noise could be an issue.

We were in town touring colleges and part of me wants my daughter to attend Chapman just so I have an excuse to stay here again! Lovely room - decor was spot on, a/c worked well during the unseasonable heat wave. Loved the on site parking and easy access to downtown Orange, the friendly service, and the breakfast spread. Definitely a repeat!

Staff was rude! Found an employee coming out of our room with us knowing when we already had all of our stuff in the room, just because a previous guest thought they forgot something!

We stayed at The Richland while visiting our daughter in August. I was determined that we were not staying in a large hotel with families who were visiting Disneyland! Our daughter is 22 so we’re well past that stage. And I don’t like renting houses - I refuse to utilize any of my culinary skills while on vacation (is it really a vacation if I have to make breakfast????). Prior to booking, I was graciously warned by the hotel staff that it would be warm in August….LOL….people in Southern California haven’t experienced a heat wave like New England summer temps of 90 degrees with 98% humidity! Since we live on the East Coast (Rhode Island) we found Old Towne charming and the architecture reminiscent of home. There are wonderful restaurants within walking distance. We absolutely loved the hotel! We rented the Attic Suite which was beautifully decorated. While I found the attic to be warm upon arrival (it’s an attic), I was able to adjust the thermostat and the room got quite cool. The hotel is well maintained and there are a lot of special touches that elevate your stay. I was so happy that we chose to stay at The Richland and look forward to visiting Old Towne again! PS….Be sure to get breakfast at the Filling Station! We ate there multiple mornings - it was fantastic!
