Way Shack Hostel

Kent was incredibly friendly and helpful. He not only took us to the whale shark snorkeling spot but also let us go back to our room to rest and called us when it was our turn. He also helped us arrange a tuk-tuk to the Bohol port.

The room was very small and the facilities were run-down. However, the front desk staff were warm and helpful. For 1000 pesos plus an additional 50 pesos, you can skip the queue to see the whale sharks. It's located right opposite the ticket office, which is a fantastic spot. We woke up at 3:40 AM, queued up for facial recognition, returned to the hotel at 5 AM, and then left again at 6 AM to see the whale sharks.

Excellent hostel for shark spotting! It's literally right across from where the boats depart. If you contact the hotel in advance, they can likely help with booking a slot, so you won't have to wake up at 5 AM. We didn't do this on the first day, so we had to get up, but for a very small fee, they helped us with the queue (allowing us to go back to the hotel to sleep more) and then with boarding. On the second day, we decided to swim again, and this time they simply offered to book a time for us, and we got to wake up at a comfortable 7 AM. The hotel itself is very vibrant and cheerful. The beds are creaky, of course, but comfortable. All in all, for a 2-day stay, it's perfect!
