Otaru Kourakuen

Super nice and traditional onsen hotel. Cleanliness in particular. You can walk with your bare foot all around the hotel and they provide many activities within hotel.

Excellent onsen with very nice private onsen in the room surrounded by Sakura trees. Very nice omakase dinner served in room, excellent service from the team. Lounge area serving beer, sparkling wines and other non alcoholic beverage all inclusive in the package price is a nice touch. Highly recommended

The stay was magical from the very beginning where 5+ employees greet you. We were immediately made to feel extremely welcome. The room was amazing. We enjoyed the Japanese futon-style sleeping and eating for the two nights we were there. The meals were amazing…the second night, non-standard seasonal meals even better than the seasonal, standard ones. They were so accommodating to my preference for no raw fish, even bringing me a pot with boiling water to boil them myself! The private onsen was amazing as my husband and I were wanting time together to relax….that is my biggest beef with most onsen a…they are normally gender segregated. We enjoyed the amenities such as the morning cafe (the little pancake bites were delicious), the free drinks in the afternoon-evening, and the bonfire. The grounds were delightful to explore. Such a much-needed, restful stay.

The entire stay was a dream. I can only recommend going here. It was very pricey for us but well worth it. The staff is exceptional, the facility beautiful, the food fresh and local and the atmosphere pure relaxation. If I had to pick something that could be improved, it's that the bonfire could run a little longer in the summer to enjoy it after dark.
