The hotel is in front of Hirosaki Station. Iwakiyama was visible from the window and the view was very good. Location is just a few minutes away from the station and the buses, and a 15 minute walk to the park. Not much restaurants around though, but I felt there weren't much dining options in the whole of Hirosaki.

It was to the visitor center in the foreground. You can go to the mother tree from the mountain trail, but it is difficult and not suitable for families with children. It is also close to the Iwakiyama trailhead. The royal road is to climb from Iwakiyama Shrine, but it is impossible for amateurs. It was a difficult steep slope because it was called Shugendo. You can drive to the 8th station, so it's better to go from there. The Shirakami Mountains were a World Heritage Site in the virgin beech forest, but visually it was not much different from ordinary mountains.
