Nice experience and very good hotel

IBB is a DIY Hotel. You can check in from 2 to 6 pm at the reception - if you’re lucky. There’s a woman with an Eastern-European accent at the reception, who doesn’t seem to be bound to any regular times to be at work. Judging from her attitude, she seems to be connected to the management or the owners. Polite phrases are absent from her language, but orders aren’t. The cleaning lady on the other hand was super nice. If she’d manned the reception and the Russian lady would clean, it would be a boon for the guests. Checking in outside of the small time window, when the reception is manned, can be a challenge, particularly for foreigners. I helped a couple from abroad, who had unsuccessfully tried to call the German mobile phone number displayed at the entrance. They were stuck outside and didn’t know what to do. So I called the number, and the Russian woman mentioned above answers it and tells you what to do - literally. You have to type in a code, you’ll receive on the phone, into a metal box outside the entrance to get your card. I have no idea whether she speaks any English or not, so good luck. The rooms are quite modern, but wear and tear are already setting in. The TV remote in my room didn’t work properly, and the screen had a long scratch. There was dirt in the bathroom. There are supermarkets, fast food restaurants and a bakery close to the hotel. There is a Greek restaurant about 10 minutes walk away. As this is in a remote suburb of Paderborn, there isn’t much going on.
