Scent of Green Papaya Resort

Our stay here was great. The property is very clean and the rooms were nice. Ours was overlooking the pool area. The bar was nice for a late night drink and breakfast was delicious! They even packed us a to-go meal when we had to fly out early. They coordinated transfers to and from the airport for us which was very convenient and appreciated. The property itself is set off from the main road a little ways so if you want to get to the town you could either call a trike or walk (10-ish minutes). Just be careful on the small road of vehicles. The proximity to coffee shops and town made it a great stay for us. Would stay again ☺️

Would not return to the Scent of Green Papaya resort in Bohol after a poor experience led to us cutting our multi night stay short after just one night. Firstly we found cockroaches in the bedroom, along with other insects in the bed including a silverfish which crawled out from under the pillow. At breakfast we also found a cockroach under the glass in the table we were sat at. The bathroom was also dirty, with behind the sink very grimy and the bottom of the shower looking like it hadn't been scrubbed in a while. Also old shower parts had been left in the corner under the sink. Our sleep for our only night was the worst night's sleep we had had in years, with chickens and dogs in the neighbouring property making constant noise and the thin windows doing little to stop the sound. The curtains are also paper thin and blocked no light from neighbouring buildings or the resort area below. Finally, while the pool area looks like it has had a recent freshen up, the rooms are very dated and in major need of an upgrade. This included balcony doors which wouldn't lock. While we complained to the hotel and were offered a room clean or alternative rooms, we could not stay there another night due to the very sub par accommodation and experience compared to what was offered. The hotel have since refused a refund through *******. I would not recommend staying here.

A lovely hotel with really helpful and friendly staff. It was a real retreat from the hustle and bustle of Alona beach. Unfortunately the scourge of people taking facetime calls on speaker phone or watching videos without headphones has reached these parts and the vibe was somewhat spoilt from this and the constant pings of message alerts. Whilst we know there is little hotel staff can do about this (maybe a sign at reception) there was a group of people partying and being loud one night and we had to go and ask them to be quiet at 1AM, something that the staff should have done. Overall it was still a really nice stay and we would absolutely stay again and recommend to others.

Ruined our mood for the day for making us pay for "dirty" towels (really!) Tried to charge us 800 pesos for a shuttle to the airport (usually/typically free). We booked a ride from grab for 180 pesos. The ride to the airport literally took 10 minutes.

TL;DR: Fantastic resort with incredibly helpful staff (shout-out to MJ & Gel!), spacious and clean rooms, and a great location that's both walkable to Alona Beach and has a convenient free shuttle. Absolutely would stay here again! Full Review: My stay at Scent of Green Papaya Resort was amazing right from the start. The check-in process was so easy, and the staff graciously allowed us an early check-in once our room became available. MJ and Gel were so helpful from the moment we arrived, going above and beyond to assist with all of our questions throughout our entire stay. The room (I had the King Superior) was spacious and immaculately clean, and the pool was always pristine. The resort offers a free shuttle service to and from Alona Beach from 7 AM to 5 PM (except Wednesday), but it's also a very manageable walking distance. Just a note for future guests, you'll need to pre-select your breakfast choice the day before. I will definitely be coming back here on my next trip to Panglao. Highly recommended!
