We stayed at the Le Petit Chomel from Oct 18 to Nov 8. Its located on a quiet street, in the center of Paris just two blocks from the Metro and close to the Bon Marche. We found the rooms very clean, with new sheets and towels every day. Breakfast was excellent, which included cheeses, fresh breads, coffees, teas, fresh orange juice, yogurt, and fresh fruit. The owners and staff were exceptionally friendly and very helpful, suggesting places to eat, visit, and ways to save money while in Paris. They helped us understand the transportation system which is one of the finest in the world. We easily traveled every district to visit museums, palaces, the many wonderful churches in and around Paris and places to shop. Walking from location to location is easy. The trains are also fast and easily accessible from the metro to visit outside areas like Normandy and the city of Bayeux close to the American cemeteries, beaches, and Mont Saint Michel. A café is conveniently located at the end of the block and there’s a fine restaurant next door. We suggest making arrangements through the staff and obtaining tickets online to guarantee a time of entry and avoid unnecessary waiting, this includes dining at the Eiffel Tower. Downloading apps can be very helpful such as SNCF Connect for the trains, G7 for taxis, Bonjour RATP for the Metro and busses (busses can be used with the same Metro pass), Google Translate (helpful for viewing menus), and Orange Travel that allows a low-cost way to phone and text with a downloadable SIM, (much cheaper than US carrier service in Europe). Thanks again to the wonderful people at Le Petit Chomel, Delphine, Emilie, Nas & Pascal!
