In ancient Greek and Roman mythology Odysseus spent ten years trying to find his way around the Aegean. I now know how he felt after visiting the Aldemar Olympian Village - it is vast! For context the AOV is as big as Hyde Park London but far better maintained with avenues of finely cultivated lawns hedges, topiary and not a sign of litter. Just along the beach you can marvel at the remains of Roman baths because Skafidia was known then as a place to come and relax. Two thousand years later you can do just the same, I mean how lucky are we to be able to enjoy far more than the Romans ever dreamt of? If however your perfect holiday consists of wandering up mountains, jungles or deserts with no one around, or having your grapes peeled whilst being fanned by Nubians, Roman style, then the AOV is not for you. But if your thoughts are for a sublimely relaxing few weeks involving a hedonistic lifestyle I can't think of a better place. At the time of the Romans the Greek stoic Epictetus wrote ""Most of what passes for legitimate entertainment is inferior or foolish and only caters to or exploits people's weaknesses. No, I include it for the naysayers, the writers of reviews who just don't get it and as Epictetus says have allowed other people's thoughts and images into their minds, just don't be one of them please! Very relaxing holidays. The pools are perfect and the food amazing . The staff very kind and helpful! Sharing pool bungalows are highly recommended! Kids friendly facilities with kids club and bike rentals options! The hotel manager is very kind ! Also the chef from Crete is amazing!

The surroundings of this hotel are very beautiful. Everything assorted and bonded with some great, caring and careful service. Starting off from reception, the hostess (Daniela), made it up in a great way that the beginning of our trip was nice! Thanks for that! A plethora of variated foods and beverages at the restaurant; No queues, and operative servicing. Good personnel work. Clean beach, wonderful pools, with crystal clean water. The hotel itself is really comfy and its surroundings are very compactly and neatly decorated, with everything on sight and in easy and comforting proximity. We would consider remarking the work of the people at calypso bar, where it all was great!, mostly Maria and Konstantina, that made our stay at the bar really positively engaged, by creating a great a**osphere, vibe helped by their charming smile and professionalism. Just back from a wonderful weeks stay at this fabulous hotel which really does tick all the boxes . The hotel really is beautiful with amazing facilities and is right next to the sandy beach . The hotel is spotlessly clean . We stayed in the main building which Is a perfect location close to all the facilities. Our rooms were fabulous and were cleaned daily with clean towels provided . We were given towels to use by the pool . The food was good with a great selection. All the staff are so friendly and work so hard . A special mention has to go to the brilliant Animation Team Elena Anna-Lena Katy Veronika Timo . The whole team are just fabulous and really made our holiday . We loved the cocktail games and joining in with Aqua Zumba . Joining in is a must . Thank you for making our holiday so special and memorable. We would definitely return without a doubt and would recommend this hotel to everyone.

The only recommendation will be for the hotel to have a separate pool for adults as in all the pools were extremely crowded with kids

We booked very last minute 3 days prior to our holiday so as usual we looked at the reviews on tripadvisor.co.uk most seemed to like this hotel so we went and booked it at the travel agent. We can definitely see why it got such rave reviews. From entering the grounds we knew we'd chosen right. We were met by two baggage porters who were polite, smart and efficient. Check in was excellent and quick. All our details were ready and waiting for our arrival. We were driven by buggy to our room which was a bungalow (518). Right beside the lovely well maintained beach. We unpacked and went for lunch which if my memory serves me right is served until 4pm. Excellent buffet as all the meals are. The childrens entertainment starts early evening not too sure of the time as we didn't have children with us. The bar is situated close to the entertainment. Bit too close for us but we managed. Pre-dinner drinks then into the restaurant. We usually ate just before 9 pm. Again the food was really good with plenty variety. After dinner there's a lovely bar by the beach. Cool Bar. That's really tastefully decorated and very relaxing. Afterwards we went back to the other bar close to the amphitheatre. The staff at the hotel are superb. Friendly and welcoming. We hired a car for a day and visited Olympia. Tip go early and as we were recommended not at the weekend as the cruise ship take there passengers on Saturdays and Sundays. So can we recommend the hotel? Definitely. As you may know the star rating of Greek hotels are usually not the star rating that we would expect in other countries but for once they got the rating correct. Go. You'll love it

First and last impression, main toilets. Urinals all out of order. Three washbasins, two out of order. When busy got messy. All two weeks Only two a la carte restaurants. Not 4 as when booked. Tea, coffee free first day only, advised could contact reception and buy more Entertainment on evening catered for young children

We stayed from 12th-19th June. It was amazing from arrival to departure. We had a family room with garden view, it was adequate for what little time we spent in there. The beds were comfortable and the housekeeping service was reliable. Our toiletries were replenished daily and towels changed frequently. To say the food is buffet style it really was amazing. The presentation and attention to defail really impressed us. I am gluten free and even though the chef said they could provide gluten free bread and pasta it wasn't necessary as there was so much choice. I never felt deprived or restricted. I especially loved the aubergine dishes. Our children (aged 8 and 5) loved every meal. They provide a little childrens buffet at dinner which made them feel grown up! The staff were always attentive at meal times ensuring plates were quickly cleared and the food areas were clean and presentable. I suffered from a rash which needed antihistimes, the reception ordered me some from the pharmacy and it arrived the same day. The sea views are incredible, we watched the sunset over dinner every night. The pools are clean and plenty of them. The beach is literally a 30 second walk from the main pool so you can alternate whenever you fancy. The kids club is great. There is a small soft play area, indoor area with lego and toys, a shallow splash pool and a park with swings and a big pirate ship climbing frame. We didn't leave our kids but we would have felt comfortable doing so with the animation team who run it. We relaxed round thr pool area while the kids were entertained by Celia :) The amination team were outstanding. They were present all through the resort whether facilitating beach sports, pool sports or kids club they were at it for at least 14 hours a day. They made all the children feel welcome and included regardless of nationality. They worked tilelessly to make guests happy. They did shows several times a week and a childrens disco every night. They always had a smile on their face and really deserve a 5 star review. We will definitely return :)

We had a lovely weekend in this beautiful, big, luxury and impressive hotel. Service and staff was truly great! Beach was sandy and large. Ideal place for couples but families too. We will definitely return as the location ia ideal either for long stay or just weekend. Many thanks to reception and guest relation team that were really helpful.
