Ibis Pattaya

I've been to Pattaya dozens of times, but this was my first stay at an Ibis here. I arrived two days early, and my planned hotel was too expensive for a last-minute booking. So, I figured the Ibis, being right across the street from my main hotel, would be fine for two nights. I was so wrong; it was genuinely awful. The small room size was manageable, but the shower was so tiny you couldn't even turn around. Plus, there was no charging outlet by the bed, which is incredibly inconvenient nowadays. The bathroom floor also accumulated water very easily. They require a 1000 baht deposit at check-in, and the front desk service wasn't good either. At just over 200 baht a night, it was definitely cheap, and I wasn't expecting much, given the price and the good location – just a few minutes' walk to the beach. Big C is right across the street, and Tiffany's Show is next door. But it was truly terrible. I booked for two nights but checked out after one, and the hotel flat-out refused to refund my money. ❌

As a temporary过渡房 (transitional accommodation), the main advantage was its cheap price, less than 300 during Chinese New Year. The room was very small with old facilities, so don't expect too much. Check-in was quick and no deposit was required. There's a swimming pool on the 1st floor, and it's right on the main road, very close to the beach.

The hotel's location is excellent, offering great value for money. Most guests are Asian. It's true, as some online reviews mentioned, that there's a peculiar smell in the hallways, but I think it's just the hotel's signature scent. We stayed for four days and got used to it more and more each day. When we booked, only rooms with sealed windows were available, but there was no strange odor inside the room. The air conditioning did have some noise, but if you're not particularly sensitive to heat, you can turn it off at night as the hotel has a ventilation system. Breakfast was also very good. Next time, it would be perfect if we could book a family room with a balcony, especially since it's one of the few hotels that doesn't charge extra for children.

A typical Ibis, with nothing in the room but a bed and a bathroom. However, this Ibis has an excellent location, very close to Terminal 21, making it convenient for dining and shopping. There are also many massage shops nearby, offering a wide variety of choices. The road next to it leads directly to the beach. The staff were very friendly.

First, the pros: The location is excellent, right next to Terminal 21, the beach, and surrounded by night markets and massage parlors. It's truly a prime spot. The cleaning staff were also great. Now for the cons: They gave us, a Chinese couple, a room right at the very end of the hallway...
