Highland Inn Peculiar

I paid online and then was charged again at the front desk at check in for more than what the original charge was for. The front desk person didn't speak English well and didn't understand. I would like a refund of the second charge.

Bugs in the lobby, dirty towels, and empty toilet paper still on the roll. Clearly not much effort is put in to maintenance and cleaning.

Avoid if you like the following: Old, overwashed sheets that were so thin & rough from way too old, same with the towels, stained also. Pillows were like the ones you give yur dogs to lie on after years of use, beyond nasty & flat. None of the pillows had pillow cases, just beyond nasty covers. The fridge cooling knob control was missing, wen I asked for a replacement knob to turn fridge cold, owner came with pliers, but hesitantly moved it colder but just barely, as if all he thought of the electric bill going up, two night stay and nothing in fridge was even remotely cold. Did not provide replacement knob. Water shower pressure almost non-existent. Only slight pressure when temp was just slightly warmer than cold, if u turned to lukewarm or full hot, pressure stopped completely! Good thing its summer for cold shower. Toilet nasty with years of water mineral stains. A/C was cold at least! Best part of the stay….was allowed 1hr late checkout w/o 25 hourly fee & provided with ice packs b/c ofc the fridge was warm & MESSI scored 3 goals!

There was no one to check us in when we arrived. The towels were stained and dirty. The bedding was stained. Bed very uncomfortable. No breakfast, just packaged muffins/sweets. This was not a good experience.

The broken English spoken was hard to understand. This is from the front desk person. We also had an unexpected charge.

The room we were originally checked into was not clean. The sheets had a lot of hair on them and some smudges. There was trash on the floor of the bathroom and dead insects. The room smelled. They changed us to a cleaner room, which was tolerable, so we stayed. The pillows were lumpy. The communication for getting checked in was difficult.

Very comfy bed, great parking. Excellent service. A little difficult language barrier but other than that, it was very nice.

The room was acceptable, could have been cleaner but comfortable bed and at a good price. Friendly staff. The continental breakfast consisted of coffee and pre-packaged rolls and snack cakes--no milk, no juice, no cereal, no fruit--definitely a cut below the breakfasts offered at other places. They did offer a 20% discount at a nearby restaurant where you could go buy breakfast, but part of the adverstized draw was an included breakfast.

Parking was very good, secure, staff was very nice, even brought us fresh towels at check in! Hard to understand, English wasn’t the best. The TV was poor. They did explain the trick to turning it on. But we didn’t understand them, didn’t want to be rude and keep asking. We did get it on, never got it to change channels, the remote was useless. For the price, we would stay again. It was very clean, bug free. The coffee was wonderful!
